can any one help me with the solution of problem no.109 of shakuntala devi
..............
a five feet long staff casts a shadow 2 feet long.can you find the height of a steeple whose shadow at the same hour,is 120 ft long?

for every 5 feet,the length of shadow decreases by 3 feet.so,for it to decrease by 120 feet,length of steeple should be 40*5=200 feet

I don't get your answer Shashank.

120 ft is not the reduction in shadow length ., but given as "shadow is 120 feet long"

I my opinion either the question is 3 feet shadow length for five feet staff or the answer must be 300 feet.( I know the answer given in the book is 200 , but I suspect there is a
mistake somewhere.)

yeah,there is no explanation given,so,tried to force the issue
will see if anything can be done.

5:2 = x:120.
