hello mr kartik see here the calculation.

firstly 50 minute ago means 6 o clock -50minute.
4.44 pm

and it means 104 minute past of 3 o clock.

now she want 4 times to 3 clock. now divide

104/4=26. that is the result.

There's no escaping reason, no denying purpose - because as we both know, without purpose, we would not exist.
It is purpose that created us, Purpose that guides us, That drives us, It is purpose that defines us, Purpose that binds us.

Now the question says, 50 minutes ago from (180-x) ..........(180-x-50)
it was four times as many minutes past 3 ...........(4x)

180-x-50 = 4x
x = 26 minutes

Re: Shakuntala Devi - 16-12-2007, 06:45 PM

Hi friends....
I came across this puzzle from Shakuntala Devi's Puzzles to Puzzle you...Am unable to solve this...Plzz help me out to solve this problem with steps...

Here is the Puzzle..
Fifteen years back my neighbour Mrs.Sareen had three daughters Sudha,Seema and Reema, and their combined ages were half of hers. During the next five years Sonny was born and Mrs.Sareen's age equalled the total of all her children's ages.
After some years Kishu was born and then Sudha was as old as Reema and Sonny together. And now, the combined age of all the children is double Mrs.Sareen's age, which is as a matter of fact, only equal to that of Sudha and Seema together.Sudha's age is also equal to that of the two sons.
What is the age of each one of them?

The book contains only the answer for this problem with no explanation...Please help me with steps and explanation..

Thanks in advance...
