I Cant Quant!

Hi All,
Just joined this forum a coupla days back! Writing CAT for the first time this year(04)
I have been going to TIME classes in B'lore, and writing thier Mock cats as well. Though I manage

to comfortably clear the Verbal, I am atrocious at Quant and DI. I seem to always pick the wrong

questions miss the right ones, and generally screw up. i have been getting single digit scores in

both-excepting for one 12 in Quant..
Do you see any hope for me in the next three months?? any suggestion? how do i wizen up?Or u

think i gotta write it next year????
Any study groups in b'lore near malleshwaram?Also any e-mail ids of any online study groups will

be welcome.

this is not a happy ending story; is your quant bad or do you find the exam difficult, walk out and realise that it wasnt all that tough, only u screwed it up?

just choose your problems with care...there are atleast ten probs that can be done...and another five that you can pick out of the rest

i am a doctor and had to experience a lot of sputtering before my engine finally started..dont give up hope
there's loads of time!!

this is pawan this side.. probably the guy with the worst quant score to make it to an iim this year.. fresher .. no work ex.. non engineer..

though un can take heart in that fact but in noway i recommend throwin ur hands up in the air .. three months is a huge time. concentrate on specific areas.. if u have problems and doin what needs to be done then u can go down to the extent of takin private tutions with someone who taught u in clas 9th thru 12th ..
weird sugestion i know but had i listened to ma parents n that one .. i wud have not had to sit thru the agony of the wait list of iim indore.. or was i standin all thru those days?
believe me its not easy to start all over agin .. once when u are in it .. then let it be ur best effort .. as for your DI is concerned u jus need practise thats all.. nothin else to it..
sit down .. give everythin else up.. and study. it will surely pay off... three months is helluva time .. get up and get goin

so u left ur job to prep fr cat.i assure u that since u hav an IQ which allowed u to get a job in india in the first place ,u can do a lot during these 3 months.dont be defensive,but venture out and enjoy the prep.try out a lotta questions,get in touch with ur maths teachers,analyse those mocks and most importantly,dont treat quant as a demon but a joy to be discovered.looks very cliched but just belive in urself and give it ur all.
