Please note that I'm travelling today and hence wouldn't be able to access NL software to put the names of people who solve QQAD 049 after now. You will get the NL tomorrow on time and I will join you for the discussions tomorrow afternoon.

The 2nd practice Test will be delivered on July 1st.
Aarav, I think QQAD is fine in its current shape . On the whole I feel there is not much to change as far as level of problems are concerned.

But you can now and then (maybe 2-3 days a week) pepper us with some shockers, toughies

Quantitative Question # 050
------------------------------------------------------

Each question is followed by two statements X and Y. Answer each question using the following instructions:

Choose 1 if the question can be answered by X only
Choose 2 if the question can be answered by Y only
Choose 3 if the question can be answered by either X or Y
Choose 4 if the question can be answered by both X and Y
Choose 5 if the question can not be answered by combining X and Y also

If 1 < a < 2 and k is an integer, then what is [ak/(2 - a)], where [x] denotes the greatest integer not larger than x.

(X) [a[k/(2 - a)] + a/2] = p
(Y) [a[k/(2 - a)] + (a+1)/2] = q and k is even

-slam.

It ain't just a daydream if you decide to make it your life.

Just substituted a=1.6 k=1-----(1) and got the answer using X....
In order to test even values for K substitued a=1.6 and K=2.. now also got the answer using X but Y didnt give the correct answer... thus the above question can be answered by using X only.....
thus option 1

...
Working on for finding exact solution ....

I have just plugged in different values for odd and even values of K ... and found that in all cases I am getting the answer using X but not Y...

again this is not an ideal way of doing this type of question , it is just a mean to find the answer...

This may be wrong for a few cases .. but till now I havent found any

P and Q are the results obtained... Q is result obtained by Y when K is even
