90 - 99 : 18

Which score interval contains the median of the 73 scores?
Ans: 80-89

Would appreciate the help... Thanks.
Median term is the middle term.
there are 28 terms before 80-89 the median is 37th term which is the 9th term in 80 -89

for minimum possible in the lowest district the other 10 has to carry the maximum so the number of people in big district is 132000/10.9
the number in small district is 132000/10.9*0.9
=10899~~10900
SO THE ANSWER YOU POSTED MAY BE WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Please help with GMAT quant doubts - 02-03-2008, 09:55 AM

Hi Bibin,
Thanks for all the help..
Tried the last one on the voting districts again in the daytime wen i was more awake...

Since 10 districts have to have maximum number of people (which cant be more than 10%more of the 11th, lowest populated, district) I let the 11th district have x people..
Then the maximum the remaining 10 can have is 1.1x... which means the total voting population should be.. x + (1.1x * 10) and this should be = 132000

So x + 11x = 12x = 132000 So x = 11000 which is the least number a district can have..

Do you think this is right??

Sorry for the mistake your answer is right as its 10% more thats told
I took 10% lower than maximum.
THIS SHOWS HOW MUCH WRONG WE CAN GO IF WE MISTAKE BETWEEN 10% MORE AND 10% LESS
