Improving Reading Speed...

IM PREPARIN FOR CAT... AND ILL BE TAKIN THE CAT TEST THIS YEAR..

I HAVE A PROBLEM THAT I KNOW MANY OF US HERE HAVE(NEW CAT ASPIRANTS) I HAVE A READING SPEED OF 300 WORDS.. SOME TIMES EVEN LESS THAN THAT... IM DOING ENGINEERING AND PREPARING FOR CAT AND BE TOGETHER IS AS IT IS TOUGH.. AND ABOVE THAT IF SOME ONE ASKS ME TO READ NOVELS.... I WONEDR WHAT ILL DO ABT MY SEMESTER SCORES.. IM DOIN A LOT OF NEWS PAPER READING AND I READ ALL THE WEEKLY MAGZINES OUTLOOK INDIA TODAY ETC... BUT I M STILL AT THAT SPEED.. IN CAT AND AFTER CAT READING SPEED IS A REAL MUST... CAN SOMEONE SUGGEST SOME TIPS TO INCREASE THE READING SPEED...

WHEN I GIVE THE LR TESTS AT CL I FIND THAT IF 35 QUESTIONS OU OF 45 QUESTS WAS THE HIGHEST ATTEMPTS AND THE FELLOW GOT ONLY 18 RIGHT ON 35 I COULD MAKE HIGHER SCORE BY ATTEMPTING 21 AND GETTIN 19 RIGHT.... I MEAN IF I HAD A BETTER READING SPEED I WOULD HAVE ATTEMPTED MORE QUESTIONS AND GOT EM RIGHT AS WELL.... WHAT DOD I DO????
IM IN CONFUSION AND IT GET WORSE AS MY NEXT TEST COMES CLOSER....

readin speed is sumthin which doesnt happen overnite...u need a fair bit of practice as i can see u r doin the rite thin by readin all news papers n magazines....but r u timin urself n tryin to improve on ur timin...if u aint doin this ...then its like a sprint runner preparin 4 olympics n not timin his performances....so u c crackin cat is not easy n u better start timin urself n improve upon it...u have time n im sure in another 4 mons ur speed wud be 450-500 wpm improve ur speed say 30 wpm every mon u l be surprised by the results...ok good luck

Read, read, read and read more. Thats the best way to improve your reading speed. You have to keep timing yourself babe, you'll feel good when you can measure the improvements...

btw, my reading speed was very slow when I wuz reading your post, whatz with the caps and the bold font

Just Speed problem or reading altogether..
Never post in all Caps.

Well about reading .. keep reading make your eyes habitual of jumping than scanning
and yes somewhere i heard if you read 15 minutes upside down and then read normally the increase in speed is seen...
no practical applicability known...

indeed the best way to improve reading speed is to indulge in extensive reading.........preferably if u can read stuff on different topics altogether including ones u may not like

also, if ur looking for some material that can help u achieve that then there is a good book "How to read better & faster" by Norman Lewis.........it comes for i guess, around Rs. 150/-
