This is some information regarding the European Union. I have compiled it from various sources, mainly wikipedia.
@konda
I will try to answer most of your queries on the questions you have posted. Not able to devote that much time. My VA scores are giving me nightmares European Union
The Copenhagen criteria are the rules that define whether a country is eligible to join the European Union. The criteria require that a state have the institutions to preserve democratic governance and human rights, a functioning market economy, and that the state accept the obligations and intent of the EU. These membership criteria were laid down at the June 1993 European Council in Copenhagen, Denmark, from which they take their name.
The European Economic Area ( EEA) came into being on January 1, 1994 following an agreement between three member states of European Free Trade Association (EFTA), the European Community (EC), and all member states of the European Union (EU). It allows these EFTA countries to participate in the European Single Market without joining the EU.
The contracting parties to the EEA Agreement are three of the four EFTA states - Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway – and the 27 EU Member States along with the European Community.
The non EU members of the EEA (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) have agreed to enact legislation similar to that passed in the EU in the areas of social policy, consumer protection, environment, company law and statistics
Now let me give some info on the Individual states. Iceland: The most contentious issue regarding possible EU membership for Iceland is the loss of control over natural resources, notably fishing grounds due to the Union's Common Fisheries Policy. Opponents also point to the good performance of the Icelandic economy, high growth and low unemployment, as a sign that there is no pressing need to join the EU. It is commonly argued that the membership of EEA already brings most of the potential benefits of an EU-membership without the costs. Then there are those who view the EEA membership as costly and the experience with the EEA as a negative one and therefore oppose EU-membership. Unwillingness to hand over a part of Iceland's sovereignty to a supranational organization is another source of opposition to EU membership, as in other European countries.
Proponents of EU membership largely rely on economic arguments: they view the euro as a solution to the dramatic exchange rate fluctuations of the krona, which have posed a challenge for many Icelandic export businesses. It is also pointed out that Iceland has Europe's highest grocery prices and completely opening the Icelandic market to EU products might result in lower prices. Turkey: In order to acceed to the EU, Turkey must first successfully complete negotiations with the European Commission on each of the 35 chapters of the EU's acquis and then the member states must unanimously agree to Turkish membership. Public opinion in EU countries generally opposes Turkish membership, though with varying degrees of intensity, although political leaders and politicians of the European Union generally support it. Turkey’s entry into the EU may have profound consequences on the future direction of the EU. The issues mentioned by some of those objecting to Turkey's EU candidacy can be divided among those inherent to Turkey's situation, those that involve internal issues about human rights, democracy, and related matters, and those concerning Turkey's open external disputes with its neighbors like Cyprus, Greece and Armania. Norway: The reasons are too many . I am not posting because I feel like I am spamming the thread.I am giving the link. Norway and the European Union - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Switzerland: Switzerland and the European Union - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Microstates: There are a number of microstates in Europe; due to their size they are often closely linked with another larger state and now most European microstates have special relations with the European Union.
They remain outside the Union, some due to the cost of membership, the EU not being designed with microstates in mind. Two other smaller countries in Europe, Luxembourg and Malta, are full members of the Union. Microstates and the European Union - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hope that helped Prime Numbers are what is left when you have taken all the patterns away. I think prime Numbers are like life. They are very logical but you could never work out the rules, even if you spent all your time thinking about them.
