try these..pretty simple

1. This lady has a world famous brand named after her. She died in 1929 at the age of 39 because of tuberculosis. Her father used her name on the products manufactured by him for good luck. Name the brand and the name of the lady

2. This CEO who managed this hardcore Indian brand had difficulty in getting a budget of Rs. 2 Lakhs cleared for advertising and promotion of the brand in the late eighties. This brand which gives international names of run for their money here in India now spends hundreds of crores on advertising every year. This brand basically started the concept of "topical" advertising in India through one of its products based on current national events and happenings. These ads continue till this day. Its competitors in one of the market segments is known as the Streets brand in Australia. Just name the brand. Extra points if you can name the ad agency that designs the "topical" ads for this brand and the name of its competitor brand in India.

answers

1. The Brand Name is Mercedes – Benz and the name of the lady is Adriana Manuela Ramona Jellinek, also known as Mercedes Jellinek.

She was the daughter of Emil Jellinek (an automobile enthusiast and dealer) who used to race cars that were built by Gottlieb Diamler, Karl Benz and Wilhelm Maybach. He had the name of his daughter Mercedes, painted on the automobiles for good luck.Wanting faster race cars, it was Jellinek who spurred the development of the seminal 1902 DMG model that would be the first of the DMG Mercedes series, bearing the name of his daughter. After suggesting some design specifications, he promised to purchase thirty-six of the new DMG (Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft) model if Maybach would name the new 35-hp engine contained in it, the Daimler-Mercedes engine. A contract of five hundred and fifty thousand marks was made for these new models. Within weeks he contracted for thirty-six of another DMG model with 8-hp engines. He was granted an exclusive concession to sell the new DMG automobiles in Austria-Hungary, France, Belgium, and USA. That new model later would be named "Mercedes 35 hp" (in 1902) and it was a very important advance in automobile design. The contract called for delivery of the first automobile to Jellinek in the fall, but it did not reach him until December 22, 1900. He became obsessed with the name Mercedes and even had his name changed to Jellinek-Mercedes. Jellinek was invited to sit on the DMG board of directors, which he did from 1901 until 1909, when he retired from automotive activities in favor of diplomatic appointments.

2.The brand in question is Amul, the ad agency that makes Amul ads is Da Cunha Associates and its competitor (who in Australia is called Streets) is Walls/Kwality Walls.
The Amul Ad Campaign finds a mention in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest running ad campaign ever in history. It has been there for 41 years now. The Amul butter campaign was launched in 1966 by Advertising and Sales Promotion Company (ASP). Kurian Kurian the then Group Head at ASP was in charge of the account. The account moved to Da Cunha Communications later which was founded by Sylvester Da Cunha. His son, Rahul Da Cunha, who was the then manager at ASP now heads Da Cunha Communications and the Amul account has been with them ever since. For over 15 years it was celebrated ad man and theatre personality Bharat Dhabolkar whose name was intrinsically tied to the Amul ads. He's moved on to other things a while back and today it is Rahul da Cunha along with writer Manish Jhaveri who are the creative inspirations behind these ads. In 2003, the then Vice-President, Mr. Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, conferred the "Dr Kurien Award" for 2001-02 on Mr. Sylvester Da Cunha. According to Business Line, the Chairman of Da Cunha Communications Pvt. Ltd., was given the award at the 33rd Dairy Industry Conference here "in recognition of creating unique brand images for Indian dairy products as well as keeping alive the Amul butter campaign for four decades".
