Hi guys...good to see a dedicated thread.
I want to buy YEAR BOOK for GK. I think it gives all the info that happened in that year.....will it be useful for IIFT and some other MBA enracn exams.?

I am very poor in GK.....please someboyd answer my query guys...

hii.. hv u heard abt 'business and mgmt chronicle' magazine.. it's a monthly magazine for MBA entrances.. there are mock papers, some prev yrs solved papers for entrances apart from CAT.. and they have a GK section.. wich has questions on current affairs, business GK, economics questions and many more.. tat can help.. besides this, they have an yearly magazine.. u can try ur hands at it.. even monthly magazine also has some good 200 GK questions...

P.S.. this is a suggestion.. ther r many more books in the market.. choice is all urs..

18 correct is too good......but at the same 15 wrong is bad.

A better thing to do in GK would be to leave all such questions where you are not sure..........thats the right aproach. As it is you can see the cut-offs in GK are not too high even for easy papers.

So better adopt this style............and I am sure your GK will give you a kick wherever its treated as a separate section.

i think my approach would be attempt the qns whose answers u definately know and as far as qns in which you can narrow it down to two options make a calculated guess...

Last year iift paper had around 25 qutions
I managed to get 4 correct(=3.7 marks) ans still got the call....I jus put ABCD for all 25 questios....
But not expecting the same luck this time around....soebody plz suggest something to improve gk in these 3 months....I think this thread is not enuf
Can somebody take topic wise and discuss....like the topics can be
Economy, Politics, UN, Business their punch lines....ans so on...
if we jus pose a question, I (who is weak in gk) won't be able to rememebr guys....coz i don't have any base to associate the new gk with.....so imp thing is builiding the bas....
so some kind sould take topic wise and discuss it through.....that will be of great help....
note: most of hte questions had abbreviations....from this time around...plz post exppansin....and where is that Vienna....btw.....( hmm you know how poor i am....)

To be honest.....GK is not something whic h can be improved for some exam in a time bound manner.........but all I can suggest is to go through the managazines published by any coaching institute.......say TIME's magazine or CL's magazine or IMS or any other......just try to finish one full years subscription and then see some significant changes in your marks.....(I am sure that you will be able to shift from single digit to the double digit score...with confidence).........

And since the questions are normally from business and economy so it would be better to read some business magazine too (but this depends on how much time you have for such things in coming 90 days)..........

Anyways.......hope what I have written brings some improvement in your performance.

I totally agree with u .That we still require extra stuff to cover our GK.

It would be better if somebody else also post some questions topic wise so that we can cover maximum area ....................

Guys ,a request to everybody whatever extra informtion u r gathering or going to gather for next three months post the same on thread ,so that everybody take advantage from one's knowledge...................

In coming 3 months......you will see that the focus will shift from GK to only CAT exam.....and thats where the contributions will go down on this thread.

but as I wrote in my last message that devoting some time with you institutes monthly magazine will do a lot of good to your GK knowldege.

And as far as the knowldege in specific areas is concerned, then I assure you that go through two things - Names of CEOs and the bottom line of each company.........your marks will be assured, and you will get this list anywhere.....in any business and economy GK book, for sure. And in case you come to know something unique then share it here on this thread. Would be quite helpful to all.
