Guys,
if in case u have already attended classroom coaching once and ur score in CAT is anything above 90 percentile, then attending classroom coaching again is really a waste of time.
the only factor that u might want to consider is being put in a batch where there are some really smart guys. like an IIT batch or an NIT batch. though in most cases they might not agree to put others in such batches.
else, just use the books u have and prepare urself. the test series will certainly help a lot

i have seen TIME's analysis of their AIMCAT's and its pretty good...they post it on their website and it has a sheet on the level of difficulty of the questions as well as in they will tell u that these particular questions were easier and could have been solved in fewer steps as compared to others. After each mock they also give a solution sheet .
nd btw both IMS and TIME are conducting a MOCK test this sunday .For registration the links are as follows ALL INDIA FREE MOCK CAT 2008 OpenSimCAT Registration

Hi,
Thanks very much for posting the scan. Would it, however, be possible to post a higher resolution scan ? - the lettering was blurred and unreadable.
A similar ad appeared here ( in Mumbai) announing the Free Aimcat on 18 th May, however there were no details about the Test Series package as mentioned by you.
By the way, what (city) edition of the TOI did the (scanned) ad appear in?
TIME ( Mumbai) says AimCat prices haven't been set - in fact they go so far as to say, that the 20 AimCat package is for their own (classroom) students only. Others who join the Test Series only get 16 Aimcats only.
Therefore my request - should you provide a higher quality scan, I could take a printout to the TIME office, and wave it under their noses. They seem to be sure, that they're right.

99.70 (CAT2007) | This year IMS offers 16 SimCats - last year IMS held 8 SimCats only.
Their SimCat package this year ( 16 SimCats for 1500,- ) is much cheaper than anybody else's.
It's being rumoured here that TIME's AimCat package might cost 1900,- this year. However TIME themselves are unable to confirm this - so if they're going to be charging around 5000,- (going by last year), the choice is yours. Really ?
Here in Mumbai, it's not possible to give both the AimCats as well as the SimCats as they're both held on Sundays at the same time (10:30 - 13:00)
No other time slots are available. If this is the situation in Mumbai, it wouldn't be different in most smaller cities and towns, I guess.
CL mocks are IMHO garbage - for normal people anyway - as you can't make head or tail of them. You really couldn't be expected to solve them ( even partly) , even in twice or more of the available time, could you ? Last year, e.g. the cutoff for a section in one of their papers was 4 ( out of 100 ).
Yeah - go figure. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to banter For This Useful Post:

I think this price of 1950 for TIME is the minimum that one has to pay even after getting huge amount of scholarships. So price will range between 1950 and 5000 rps.
Dont you think that they cant decrease prices from 5000 (as someone said) to 1950, which is less than the half.
Some "CONDITIONS APPLY" theory is involved in this.Somebody who has registered please confirm this. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to accenture07 For This Useful Post:

Thanks very much for posting the ads - that was very decent of you, to take the trouble to help.
I still couldn't get the price or indeed any details of the Test Series confirmed from TIME.
Could someone from any of the cities listed ( where the ad appeared ) please confirm if this (i.e. Rs 1950,-) is the actual price one pays as a 'normal' customer ? Could someone actually join, if so?
The offer price of Rs 1950,- - if it's true - is undoubtedly very good.
As > accenture07 < pointed out, this might simply be a case of clever marketeers at work. I too smell a rat, honestly.
If this, however, is the discounted price, you could kiss it goodbye. Less than a handful of blokes ( maybe 5 out of the 50,000 that would sit for the Free AimCat ) get the full discount.
Could someone please inquire point-blank what the actual price without any discount is ?
Thanks very much.
P.S: I can confirm that the price quoted by IMS is the actual price
that one pays - no strings attached.

I don't think so that there would be any hidden charges or conditions apply sort of thing because it is all about market competition and IMS is offering 16 tests at Rs 1500. which comes to about Rs 93.75 per simcat.
IMS have also reduced their prices by half by offering double the no of tests.
Time as per its advt is ofering 20 aimcats at rs 1950 , it comes out to be Rs 97.5. So there is isn't much difference in the price.
There is no extra monetery burden of offering a test series to a outside student , they already have tests printed , booked a exam centre ,paid invigilator charges, OMR checking , displaying result etc..there wont be much increase in fixed charges. So even about Rs 100 per mock is not bad for them.
Moreover test series is the best program that a institute can claim that the student was ours student. This way they will attract best of the talent to join their test series. I mean they gain both on quality and quantity of students .So win win situation for both students and insti's .
Both institutes fear of losing bright talent to other test series , thats y reduction in prices. Also they have started with free mocks earlier this year, last year they were on 15th and 22th july. sometimes you’re ahead, sometimes you’re behind…the race is long, and in the end, it’s only with yourself. | | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to vinitonline For This Useful Post:

Your reasoning would have been impeccable, but you have not factored in greed into the equation. TIME's is (every year) the most expensive Test Series - last year their charges were in excess of 4500,- for a mere 15 tests. Their cost structure couldn't be very different from those of the others - yet they are able to, and do demand more. It's thus more of a demand-supply balancing act than a simple profit-loss equation.
Besides, it is not at all clear that TIME is offering its AimCat package to everyone for 1950.- . This ad is so worded, combined as it is with the announcement of the Free AimCat and performance based discounts, that it could be construed to mean, that it might be possible to join for 1950,- . However, this would hold only if you top their test or something equally impossible.
While it is obvious that TIME's announcement is a direct response to IMS's - they even schedule their test on the same day as IMS does - some co-incidence, huh ? - I will be fully convinced of your arguments, only when I hear reports on this forum, that someone has registered with TIME for the price quoted in the ad.
Forget actually registering, can someone ( from Pune, Bangalore, Delhi etc. where the ad appeared) please get a confirmation from TIME that the quoted price is the 'normal' price i.e. available to everyone ?
Thanks.
P.S: No other TIME or IMS tests are planned before mid to end June,
so the tests don't actually begin early this year. IMS thought out
some strategy ( along the lines that you mention, I suppose ) to capture the market and so TIME was forced to counter. The gory details will unfold over the next few days .....
