Putting in some questions(Current affairs or GK) that were asked in my IIM intvs -
Bill Gates' tryst with Antitrust law
Similarities between Windows Vista and Windows 95?
how is Outsourcing ? good or bad?
What different types of Outsourcing?
What is BPO?(coming from my answer)
tell me in single word, what is the most difficult problem that the BPO industry is facing in India? (I answered it as employee retention)
If I had to make a choice out of Set top box and DTH, which one will you suggest and why?
How many DTH satellites are there in space broadcasting for India?
What do you know about banking product of I-Flex(acquired by Oracle)
My intention to write them here is not to prompt you to prepare for them, but to make it more clear that the questions are going to come from a very wide horizon and the way that you handle them is going to be equally important to exactly what you answer.
Again i will say that read a lot, so that at least you are in a position to divert the interviewer or to show him/her that you know at least something.
For an example if you are asked about some upcoming project in Jharkhand about which you are completely unaware. You can attempt this reasonably if you say that you are not aware of this but you know that at the moment the state is a bit politically unstable, and you doubt if the govt there will be fully focused on development.[You see i am trying to drag it from current affairs to Opinion based questions or to involve them in a discussion, specially if I have the backup of knowing the name of CM, ie Madhu Koda and in what conditions he became CM. (and surely it is much better than simply saying that I donno, after all if you are not answering anything then whats the difference between you and a dead duck?)
Or anything related to powerSector problem can be diverted to the failure of Enron Project in Maharashtra.(or maybe dadri /reliance if you have read about this)
Just trying to give examples(pls dont groan if you find them awful

), Do read a lot about what you are comfortable with, and a bit about everything.
These are some generic guidelines for GK/CA
- CM and Governor of states (Heads of countries/ companies), that you are somehow related with or going to mention in SOP/Interview.
-About Your company(turnover, departments, past/future), and names of its main rivals in the field in which you work.
-Major acquisitions and mergers of recent times, their approximate value and impact(synergy is the key word over here

). So for the moment it is Tata- Corus, Vodafone-Hutch, Birla-Novelis, EDS-Mphasis .. and if you are from S/W field then (Oracle- Peoplesoft, Oracle – Iflex, IBM’s ambitious plans and a likely acquisition of Kanbay may be of interest to you)
- SEZ, Singur, Nandigram, Be ready with your viewpoint on this and make it a bit balanced.
-Maybe a quick review of budget, main direction(emphasis on education, rural/agri and weaker sections of society) while lack of bold decisions(in fields of Taxation, Infrastructure) and so on…
That’s it guys..anyway there is nothing like a complete list for GK/CA
Just feel confident. You are good enough and that’s why you are sitting outside that interview room while thousands of others tried and failed, they are interested in you and that’s why you were called for the interview.
Before entering the room, tell yourself that you will handle it well.
Self belief will be your best friend to help you sail through all this.
Best of Luck!
