Hi Saba,

Some suggestions about books:

Basic study material - Books from institutes like Time, IMS, CL
Books like Arun Sharma, Shakuntala Devi

Test Series - All the series are good from different aspects. Choose which suits you after referring the thread which runs exclusively for it. All the best

Regards,

harish

Hi Rahul,

Agreed that Arun Sharma does not provide good solutions, though sums are good. But we can post the sums in the Arun Sharma thread which runs in PG. Do post its link here so that all of us can refer them and get benefited

All the best

harish

There are basic levels of Shakuntala Devi's books. Maybe you can try solving them first. It should make you comfortable to face tougher books.

All the best

Re: Books - 06-07-2009, 03:46 AM

Hey guys I've decided to give cat 2009, and im not joining any institute, infact im a newbie
The only thing i know is that pagal guy is the best place for anything related to cat and mba..

So here are my doubts
1) Is there sufficient time for preparation? I'm good with multiple choice questions and i think i can ace the CAT exam..

2) Since im not joining any institute, please tell em how to go about with the studies

3) Which books to refer? Do these institutes give study material separately? If not which is the best book in the market? Is there any online resource for studying ? some open source study material or something like that..

Please do help me out..

Ps:- Im a regular at a few online indian forums too, so if you know me, and ur studying for cat too, gimme a buzz here..

Not much idea about trishna's but arun sharma is definitely good in terms of formulae presented, shortcuts, sums based on formulae etc. LOD 2 of arun sharma gives a fair idea of the topic, while LOD 3 gives a good practice. arun sharma can be used as a launch pad to try out more variety of sums with different degrees of difficulty from various sources like papers, PG forums etc.,

All the best
