well its not 35 stock at 86...instead its 3% stock at 86...and afaik these terms aint hi-fi anyday...all simple formulae, which seem same like the Profit & Loss ones...
here i guess...3% is the rate of interest and 86 is the market value..am i wrong??

shudn't the amount of stock be specified???and where do we use the rate of interest???
afaik cost of purchase = amount of stock * (market value/100)
