3 things I wanted to ask :

1) Can I rehash stuff that I might have used on some of the posts here and say some yahoogroups ?

2) What about the copyright stuff ? Once published on PG can I publish the same content elsewhere ?

3) What is the word limit ? I didn't get it on scanning your mail.

Interesting Qs.

1) If they are your own posts, rehash should not be a problem, provided this does not become a copy/paste job. There is a difference between the kind of stuff you would post on a thread and what you would put up on the front page of the portal.

2) Glad you asked it . The answer would be NO. For a very simple reason, I can't see a reason why we would allow the opposite. Would we allow an article to be put up on the portal, if it was found elsewhere on some other website .. ? I don't think so.

3) Word limit hasn't been set. So you haven't seen it yet. Any ideas on what can be an acceptable word limit ?

The idea here is more about encouraging people to WRITE, than share information about CAT. Of course, the latter is also an objective.

The difference is in the manner of writing. On the forum, you write casually and for functionality.
On the portal, you write for displaying your communication skills. You could even write on your resume that you had an article published on pg.com

(1) I meant could I use the answers that I have given in some of the posts as a starting point and add content to make it into an article worthy of a portal frontpage.

(2) Okay, no problems as to the content part. I have never heard of anyone (so far) having made his first million publishing articles on pg.com

(3) I think the length is a subjective issue. I think there should be a maximum length equal to something that each post on the board allows (I don't know how much this is). But the prerogative to write articles which are succinct enough to capture the reader's interest is left to the writer, and to be decided by the reviewer.

I think there could be a lot more interesting things incorporated into this. Like there could be a poll on which articles readers want to see, a weekly competition on a given topic, each article could be rated on how useful it was to the reader etc.

The writer within me is really looking forward to this

PS: Just wondering if people would contribute quant tips too ? Not me though, as I mention, whenever anyone asks me about my quant skills : "There are 3 kinds of people : those who can count and those who cannot"
