To see the bottom part of the ad. This is the section which'd have told us which ad provider (google, TF, ebay etc.) provided that ad. The specific IP, or the provider could've then been blocked. This has already been done with TF, and you don't see the idiotic screensaver ads anymore.

I too suffer from this, and need it fixed ASAP. Some of the links in my siggy have changed, and unfortunately I'm unable to change it. | Got the funda now... don't really get it tho...
Anyways, clear your signature totally... Save that...
Then, put in a new siggy... with the links you want... But note one point...
The total no. of characters in the siggy, including the characters within the links that you'll be putting it... n any others... should not cross 700... including spaces n special chars...
That would be all, actually... that kind of optimization allowed me to redo my siggy.

Dear Rungss,
Here's my 2 cents...
Just like we have sticky threads on PG, is it possible to have a thing like sticky posts?? It would be useful in all Marathon threads and other threads where a set of rules are meant to be followed. Also, in B school query threads, there is a lot of repeated queries by anxious candidates, so if the main instructions are there in every posts page, then repetition can be avoided.
The choice of what to keep in the sticky posts will be the responsibility of the thread creator, with permission from a Mod.
Cheers,
DMA Controller.

| Bloated pages on the forum -
13-01-2007, 05:05 PM
I don't know whether this issue has been discussed before but the forum has become really bloated. Each page is around 400kB in size. Now even though most of the people have broadband, such a huge size for each page is shocking.
Just browsing through the source clearly shows the things which can be optimized. The stylesheet definition are taking up a lot of space. There is some function related to thanks and groan which is different for each and every post! Can't a single function have been used with parameterizing the post number to be thanked or groaned?
Simple steps such as these will save some time/bandwidth and will make for a better user experience.

The tech gang will see what can be done, but not running images or ads is very counter intuitive to the growth of the site. It becomes a kind of leeching. We are able to do what we are because of the ads and are able to provide more features/scale because of them. If you do block them out - you do negate the hard work we put into building this site. Not to preach - just a thought.
