Dude ur Questions itself gives the answer.
They have ur School info, ur graduation info and ur work Ex info. What's missing is the Extra Curricular/ Co Curricular info. So they ask that explicitly in the interviews. They had started my interview with the question... "What're your hobbies?"
Hope I'm clear... | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to computer_manan For This Useful Post: | | | | | |

( I have just returned from my BM interview at Xavier's College today. The panel comprised of 3 members viz. Prof. Supriya Kumar De (P1), Prof. Abhijit Gangopadhyay (P2) and Prof. Munish Thakur (P3).
After exchanging pleasantries, P2 started going thr. my acads.)
P2: So, how many ATKTs did u have in engg?
Me: Sir, I had KTs in 3 subjects, actually.
P2: Hmm...Thank you for being honest about that.
(I smiled)
P2: So, u have 3 yrs work ex in TCS...what have u done so far in ur company?
(I told him the work I have done in the 2 projects I have been in.)
P2: Ok, so u have lots of experience. Then, why do u want to leave ur job and do an MBA? Since u r currently working in Nariman Point, u could join the evening MBA course in JBIMS.
Me: I could do that, sir, but I want to completely dedicate myself to mgmt studies when I do the course. That would not be possible if I join the evening MBA course. Plus, I have never been on campus before. So, I would also like to gain the experience of spending time on a campus.
P2: That involves a lot of adjustments on ur part.
Me: I am fully prepared to do that, sir.
P2: Good good. So, tell me something abt the current stock market scenario.
Me: Sir, I am not really into equity markets. I could give you a general idea as to what is happening. I follow the debt markets more closely.
P2: Still, just give me an idea.
Me: ok, sir....(told him in general abt the sub prime crisis etc.)
P2: Ok, u pick an industry u r comfortable with.
Me: Sir, I follow the auto industry, because I m passionate about cars.
P2: Ok...then tell me abt the strategy Hyundai has adopted regarding not competing with the Nano.
(I told him my opinion as to why Hyundai was not joining in...)
P2: Hmm...what kind of strategy do u think the auto industry adopts in general?
Me: blah...blah...blah (talked abt brand value for higher end vehicles)
P3: So, a Maruti 800 does not have brand value?
Me: No sir, it does, but it's a different type of value. There is hardly any prestige attached to it. It's more of a cheap utilitarian car.
P3: ok (looks at P2 to continue)
P2: Why do u think Toyota discontinued the Qualis and introduced the Innova? Many ppl still miss the Qualis.
Me: (talked abt Innova being a new model of the Qualis et al....plus tourist taxi image)
P2: But then Scorpio managed to avoid that tag...why not Toyota?
Me: blah...blah...blah
P2: But why couldnt they have introduced the Innova and continued selling the Qualis?
Me: more blah...blah...blah
P2: Ok, tell me why do the car companies sell pre-determined spec variants? Abroad, u have the base version which u can customise.
Me: pre-determined specs...faster production...mnore volumes...more cost-effective...India cost sensitive market...blah...blah...blah.
P2: Anything else?
Me: No sir, I cant think of anything else at the moment.
P2: What the knowledge level of the consumers? In the foreign markets the consumers are much more knowledgeable.
Me: Yes, sir, that is a valid point. I did not think abt that.
P2: That's alright. Ok, tell me, which Indian states are abt to go in for elections?
Me: Sir, I dont actively follow politics, hence I would not be able to decisively answer this question.
P2: So, you think politics isnt important?
Me: It's not that way, sir...it's just that it doesnt interest me as much as other subjects.
P3: Do you indulge in office politics?
Me: I must admit that this is a very difficult question to answer.
P3: Surely u do...I wouldnt be in XLRI if I didnt indulge in politics.
Me: Well sir, u r right...I do indulge in a bit of office politics, but only to the extent that it is absolutely necessary for my survival.
P3: (Smiling) ok...speak for 2 min in favour of the topic 'Office Politics is promoted by office romance'.
Me: (started speaking)
P2: (interrupts me after a min or so) Tell me, have you been in a romantic relationship so far?
Me: I must admit, I have not.
P1: Then this is ur inexperience speaking, eh?
Me: That is very likely, sir. After all, I still cannot figure out what my mom is thinking let alone a girlfriend!
(All of us laugh)
P3: So, do u think happiness results in more productivity?
Me: I think so, sir (gave explanation in support)
P3: Have u heard of the happiness index? Do u know how happy India is?
Me: No sir, I dont know.
P1: There is an index published which gives the ranking of countries according to how happy their ppl are.
P3: India is ranked very high. So then, India's productivity should also be very high.
Me: According to me, genuine happiness does induce more productivity. However, delusional happiness induced my drugs, laziness or apathy does not help.
P3: U know, the most productive countries are not very happy.
Me: It is possible that I m wrong, sir.
P3: Ok.
P1: Have u heard of standard deviation?
Me: (gave a rough idea...could not remember the exact definition and told him so.)
P1: Tell me 2 areas in business where u can apply SD.
Me: (told him)
P1: Do u know what is LCM and GCD?
Me: (Explained)
P1: Do u know where it is applied in business?
Me: No sir, I cannot recall any application right now.
P1: Ok, u will learn it.
P2: Ok, just sign the sheet and you may go. All the best.
P3: It was nice talking to u...all the best.
Me: Thank you, sirs.
So, puys, ne opinions? How was it...seniors?
