FOR THE KIND ATTENTION OF ALL THE CANDIDATES WHO HAVE ALREADY APPLIED TO BIM:
AICTE has issued a directive on 1st November 2003 in leading dailies. It directs that Admissions by any Institution which selects students on all India basis to MBA Programmes shall be made only through any one of the five designated All India Entrance Tests namely, CAT (conducted by IIM's), JMET (conducted by IITs), MAT (conducted by AIMA), ATMA (conducted by AIMS) and XAT (conducted by XLRI). This directive is based on an order (No.F. 17-8/2002-TS.I) dated 10th October 2003 of the Department of Secondary Education and Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India. This Order of MHRD is based on the Supreme Court Judgement in the case of "Islamic Academy of Education and Ors Vs State of Karnataka and Ors". This directive is binding on BIM also and so we are forced not to conduct the Admission Test as scheduled on 28th December 2003. We tried our best with Central Government to avoid this consequence and we also explored the possibility of any legal recourse, but it becomes very clear that we cannot admit students based on our Admission Test and we need to join one of the five All India Entrance Tests. In the interests of students, We have decided to join ATMA conducted by AIMS after considering all the factors affecting the students' future. For BIM Admissions 2004, candidates will be short listed for Personal Interview and Group Discussion based only on ATMA scores.
The cost of ATMA Bulletin is Rs.700/-. Towards this amount Rs.200/- will be paid by BIM to ATMA on your behalf and I request you to bear the remaining amount of Rs.500/- ATMA Bulletins will be collected by BIM on behalf of you and dispatched to you as soon as we receive the Demand Draft for Rs.500/- from you (drawn in favour of Bharathidasan Institute of Management, payable at Tiruchirappalli).
