I am kiran from hyderabad. Looking forward to do join CEIBS next year. Can you please evaluate my profile and if CEIBS can be the best school for me. I come from a family business, which is into electrical equipment manufacturing and is a leader in it's core sectors.
I don't go solely by rankings, but it is good to know CEIBS has been placed 11th best school in the world my Financial times for the past two years(it is not even listed in some other rankings). So, I am now truly confused if it a good bargain to go to china and study because most of the chinese come to US for MBA and then go back to china to work there.
According to me, since we have plans to setup shop in China sometime soon, I guess it will be a good experience to learn about the local market and build contacts. I will also get to learn some Mandarin and Cantonese in the 18 months long course work. On the contrary people say it too risky to leave a career in the US and also I will have to settle down in China for atleast 5-6 years to learn more about the markets etc.
I guess most of the companies are state run JV's and slowly the market is opening up to private players so I believe there will be lot of opportunities for people like us.
My other options can be to do MBA in the US in a top 10 school (which should be easy with the sponsorship n my work experience- 5 years in India, Mexico, US and Japan) and then look after options of expanding the operations to cater to the US market or else in the worst case I can take up a good job/entreprenurial venture in the US.
Thanks,
Kiran
