So what should I do if I plan to prepare for both CET and CAT simultaneously and do not want to wait for the end of cat to prepare for cet as it could be too late by then?

Hi,
The two tests are very different in their format. But syllabus wise, CET is a watered down version of CAT. What makes it difficult is the sheer number of questions that you need to answer. So not only will you have to prepare for them seperately, you will have to take the tests with gaps between them. I suggest you start with CET prep. Once you are comfortable with taking a Mock CET, train your eyes on CAT. Since you have covered the basic syllabus, CAT wont seem like an uphill climb and you will be in time to prepare for CAT full time. But then concentrate and dont lose focus on CAT. The strategies employed should be ingrained in you till you give the exam. After that switch modes..it will be an amazing difference, but a relief. Just dont take it too easy because you need to attempt maximum questions in CET and that will take a little practice. Hope this helps.

Saw an ad of CET Test Series in the newspaper. Does it make sence to start CET test series so early??
The ad was somewhere in the papers and the test series is conducted by Quoin Academy and is starting from 13th September.
Shoud we start the test series now or later and how good is test series from Quoin Academy. Is it worth joining?

Its great to see people starting their preparation so early!
I was in the same position a year ago. and it gives a good feeling when you use pagalguy, see what others are doing, feel motivated and prepare.
Few tips from my side,
Some of you have asked about test series, please prepare first and then take test. Its ok to take a CET paper without any prep. See where you are, and then start your preparation. A score of around 100 can be considered decent.
Ideal time to start preparation, today!
Ideal time to join test series...November.....
Till november, finish all your basic books, build concepts and solve as many questions as you can...my suggestion min. 200 questions per week
Please concentrate on all areas. 200 questions in a week means mixture of questions from QA, DI, reasoning, VR, AR, RC etc. After november, 3 question papers per week.
Those who have taken CAT or going to take coming CAT, please dont be under impression that you have advantage above people who prepare only for CET. I have seen people who appeared only for CET and got 99.99
At the end, to sum it up for this post, start early, work hard.
Stick to your timetable. Dont get disheartened.
My performance
CAT 2008 - 98.2 percentile
Dec 2008 MAT, Feb 2009 MAT, CET 2009 - 99.99 percentile
final university rank 9
