Dude, don't look at at it this way. You rank B-school parameters in this manner, in descending order (Note: This is my personal opinion only);
In descending order--
1. Quality of placements (Type of companies visiting campus, also important, type of profiles offered, very imp.)
2. Most folks like the salary part, so I rank this here.
3. Quality of faculty (If faculty is no good, it means you don't understand anything in class, your money and 2 years go down the drain.) Here, I feel SIMSR ranks higher vis-a-vis Welingkars. Don't go by the number of PHDs only, more importantly talk to students there, ask if the proffies explain things in a interesting manner, if proffies are dull, you go to sleep in class!
4. Fees, important for dudes. Don't compare fees of different institutes, I recommend that you try to calculate R.O.I. after 2 years time, taking into consideration the average, mean, median, etc. etc. packages of the previous year's passouts. You get student loans nowadays, so don't worry to much of high fees, if you do your homework well. Be very careful how companies offer you C.T.C. packages, I hope you understand the concept, else ask folks here on PG, those who have recently passed out from B-schools.
5. Now you put infrastructure here, the library, most important, then your classrooms, hostels, blah, blah.
6. Anything else, you're welcome to add now.

well wellingkar's has a pretty dubious admission process. even the placement figures are not completely true. i'll take KJ over it any day.

Could you please tell me about the HR placement in KJ somaiya? Do companies come to recruit HR? how's the average salary? would a guy having 2 years IT exp be given lateral placement in HR?

That's what struck me too, they seem to prefer more of Mumbai candidates, I've been twice for GD/PI, fairly decent too, but could not make it.

I have 2.2 years of work ex. as of now in a INFY.
My queries:-

1)Please let me know the package, we get for lateral placements?
2)About Work ex. certificate, My company issue us a certificate on INFOSYS letter head with the signature of the required official printed and not in INK, does attestation means the signature inn INK?
3)What specialisation IS KJ having?Does KJ have Finance/Systems?

Last date is about 30-31 of December. Form is available online on the website, you can submit it online.
