I have work ex - of 8 yrs in industrial sales in a MNC with 66% in my engg. and a GMAT score of 660. My question is very candid, is GLIMS is a better bet for my kind of work ex. ??Also let me know if u have any valuble inputs abt GLAKES let me know abt that.

Firstly I wld like to apologise for the late response.

As far as ur questn is concerned , Great Lakes is a gud bet for following reasons

1) In terms of academic learning you will be taught by the best faculties not jst in India bt frm acrss the world

2) Since your batchmates will come from different industries, peer learning at Great Lakes will be second to none

3) At the time of placament, you will have many alternatives if you decide to go for career shift as unlike other b schools everybody has a prior industry exposure.

4) One more aspect which a working professional needs to conisder is Opportunity cost.

Fees of MBA program + Salary which u would miss out < Take away at end
during the course of course

All lot of big brands fail to clear this simple equation and Great Lakes is a big winner in this regard.

Yes we dont have a lush campus or a five star staying accomodation, but we provide the essentials which makes up for a solid MBA programme.

Lastly if u c our batch profile then u will knw tht quite a few guys are in between 6-12 yrs of wrk exp. These guys were at senior posts in big companies. The fact that they are here is not by chance but through carefull calculation and assesement of all the choices available to them.

Hey Asim sorry for the late response.....kinda busy in intrnshp.

Well the list is long but let me give u sum idea......Microsoft, H P, Deutsch Bank,Citigroup,ESPN, TCS, Satyam, Frost and Sullivan, O& M, Kotak, Henkel, Relliance, VSNL etc. Also there are quite a few start ups like Reach technologies, Valgen, Perspecte etc.

Well with this weekend.....v have made it to the third week of our 4th week internship. Junta is setteled in their wrk at same time being aware of the fct tht only 2 weeks r left before getng bck to hustle n bustle of campus.

In a strange manner in jst 6mnts v have got addicted to campus life. Right nw we are goin thrgh corporate rigours which we have been into since sum years nw, still strangly we are lookin frwrd 2 geting bck 2 campus. I understand tht this luxury wont be there next time when we wld b wrkng after internshp......

Back in GL exams r waitin, assignements r waitin and so the prospect of havng a great time admist all of this!

Will keep u puys posted for latest......

Hi Glakers.....

When i gone thro d Glakes portal i saw tht they consider CAT2006 score too....I hav 15month work exp as a S/w proff(in a major IT firm), 84% in Engineering(Anna Univ), 90% in HSC n 78% in 10th....i too CAT2006 without serious prep n got around 60percentile....

I hav done NSE certification in Financial Markets too....

All i need to unearth is Wil i b selected if i apply this year (200?????

Wil my profile convince GLIM or i need to get BETTER CAT/GMAT score?????

Howvever i will make an exception here.....U have a good profile but ur cat score is way too low. I wld recommened tht take GMAT ( i dnt knw wether u have applied for CAT?) and apply with a better score. Probablty of then makin it in GL wld be bright howvere no gurantees!
