[quote=ApacheAviator]Hi everybody
This is my 1st time on PG & man, what a place it is to be in.
Well, heres some stuff abt myself

Hi there and welcome to PG. I suggest you read up some of the posts here on this thread to find out more about Great Lakes. I am sure you must've visited the website by now www.glakes.org. I presume from your intro that you have been working for a little over 1 yr. Since your background is going to be unique you will be quizzed on the reasons for aspiring a management career. Thats something you would have to work upon. The score sounds ok to me. You can give GET also at the time of appearing for your GD and Interview(presuming you are going to do that). A test score is not an elimination and that makes life better. Go ahead and get yourself a date for admission process and roll along!

My plan is to come back to India and settle there. And I believe that an MBA of 1 yr from GLIM is cost effective and helps me in getting a job there. Guys I have a GMAT of 590 ( was expecting atleast 650+ but u know it is one of those days). So is that score enough or u guys suggest me to write the GET. Also do you guys think that i have a chance of getting the admission if I do well in other areas or my stint here in Australia goes against me.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Rakesh
dude,
decent GMAT and considering that you have experience for above 5 years i think GMAT score is perfectly fine. I think you should defly make the grade if u are able to do well in your GD and PI. lemme reiterate GMAT scores will not individually disqualify a student. so chill!! . but being in australia my concerns are wil u be able to attend interviews in India. I would not suggest you to take up GET. 590 is indeed a decent score and i would defly ask u to app with that.

any more queries PM me.

Regards,
Prashanth

Thanks alot Prashanth...

But, I am concerned about one more thing. My best performance in the whole GLIM process was GET. Thats the only part I am confident about. what if, everybody performed very well in GET. ...

Do you have any idea about the percentage share GET,GD and PI marks will be contributing to the final score ? or is it like the final marks will be just the cumulative one of teh individual marks in GD/GET/PI?

GOD!!! I am getting impatient now.....

Rubina

Hi Rambo
Thx for the info.
I've gone through the GLIM site and have infact already applied online. I'm waiting for the Information-CD to arrive so that I can start my application process in right earnest. As for my career shift from the Battlefields to the Boardroom, well, I've got some very relevant reasons for doing so.
Like you said, even I have been thinking abt taking the GET but I read somewhere that GLIM takes either the GET or GMAT scores and not necessarily the higher of the two scores. Is it true? Can someone kindly throw some light on this?

Hey Rubina,

Chill. There is some weightage that is given to GET, GD and PI. But the management. As I have already mentioned in this thread, the weightage varies across profiles. And the management does not give the numbers out.

And relax. If u r destined to be our junior, then u wud be

hey apache,
yeah, whatever u have heard is true . it is upto you to decide on applying with GET or GMAT. the insti does not accord any weightage on the type of score with which u r applying.

Prashanth

Hi Prashant!

Thanks for the info dude. I have already paid my app fee online and am in the process of filling in the apps. Will be sending the apps in the 1st week of Jan. I am planning to come down in the last week of feb and if I get through the initial screening, can i ask the admissions committee for a date convenient to me for the GD & PI.

Thanks

Rakesh
