Hi

Please tell where do you think GLakes stands in comparison of colleges like MDI ,SPJain etc. Also are the authorities planning to get AICTE Approval.

When would the new campus be ready? I am plannin to apply with Last year scores <CAT> in which i secured 98.1 percentile.I have around 15 months work ex as of date with Infosys Tech, Would i be able to convert /or rather get a call for the first round. If yes how much is doing the course worth in terms of monetary/profile status.

Please tell more about the colleges?

Manik

Hi,
I am looking forward to be in GLIM. Could you just tell me abt the GET..as my CAT score (2005)is not that good(62%) .I spoke to the concerned ppl of GLIM I was being said that its decidedupon the overall performance in GD and interviews including others.I was thinkin of submitting my CAT score ( as GLIM accepts it) but I fear that I could lose a chance due to my CAT score. Also, as there is nothing known abt GET I don't know whether I should go for it.Is there a negative marking in GET as in CAT , the sections..Or should Isubmit my CAT score and prepare for GD and other rounds.
My profile: Software Eng'r in one fo teh major IT companies(1+ yrs exp)
Kindly guide me thru....

We are just 2 years old and obviously will take sometime to become as popular as MDI or SP Jain. Apart from having a sprawling campus we have everything else.

We have had some great profs teaching us and the learnings have been great till now. We had a 100% placement record in our first yeart with an avg sal of 5.5 lpa which we consider good as per b school standards. With respect to AICTE approval, check haripi's reply somedays back. Am posting that below.

I suggest you read this thread from the beginning. Neways, the admission does not depend solely on your CAT score or your work exp. There are other factors like GD and Interview where the candidate is tested. On absolute terms, I would say that the course is worth. If you want on a relative basis, we can take the discussion offline.

Hi

Thanks Vijai for all the efforts!!

My concern was and still remains as ....

Where do you see the college in a year or so from now. What is the placement scenario for this batch..how many companies have already booked the slots..For a person with around 2 years of work ex ..what has been the av placement? What has been the profile offered to the past year students?

Also please mention the complete cost for application..like last time..600 for form and then 2000...???

I believe you are a part of student community. As per you how do you rate your stay in the college...Satisfying or above expectations or below...and y?

I know these are questions which will take a lot of yur time answering..but i would like to be very sure before applyin to ne college..hope you understand

i would not be able to give u details regarding this question, but all i can say is there will be a minimum of 100 companies coming for campus this year . person of 2 year work - ex placement figures??hmphh... last batch was primarily composed of freshers . so data could look a bit skewed. our batch is a bit more diverse in terms of work ex. so reg salary obtained i think our batch data would be appropriate, but unf placements are yet to start for us.. .. anyways last year i would say 2 year work ex guyz drew anything between 4.5 -7.5 . but this year we expect it to be a lot different as we are expecxting some real biiges to come. fingers crossed.i cant reveal more than this.if u r planning to go back to IT presuming that u r from IT i would say u can look at salaries between 6- 9 lpa. manufacturing industries , not much of an idea as our pioneer batch did not have that many companies. finance also u can look anything between 5-8 depending on your profile. for marketing jobs in FMCG sector we did not have many majors coming last year, but this year the scenario could be different. so call is yours.

how do i see the college?? its getting better and its gonna rock man.. the very instance of ppl like u getting interested about great lakes is a good sign. so obviously there is going to be a slew of deserving candidates applying to great lakes which means the insti is going to comprise of quality students and which will lead to better brand name and great placements.i have got 4-5 enquiries about Great lakes from people who have got GMAT scores of 680 - 750. so its upto u to take a call as to how the insti is going to be in a year from now.

we have already had a pre- PPT from deloitte, so that shud give u an idea abt companies interested in us.official info cannot be divulged, so nothing more than this info.

regarding placement stats refer the website.

this year the cost of application is 900 Rs. stay in college is great. course is very hectic and most of the days we are held up till 2-3 AM for completing project work, presentations and case studies.we dont have a permanent campus.but nevertheless, the facilities are indeed world class and sufficient as far as MBA program is concerned. i am a localite but i have taken up a flat nearby and would say that it replicates the hostel environment closely, only sore point being absence of night canteens or a sprawling campus .

having said all this my take would be,

great lakes has the potential to become one among the premier institutes in india and it is upto you to gauge the potential and wrest the initiatives. as far as i am concerned, it was really a tough call to leave my job @ CTs, but at the end of the day i guess the risk has paid off and i am confident that i will be landing up a job in my preferred area of interest.so the call is upto you. if you have any other specific queries , we can take it online..

Hi kinra,

I'm so poor  :bad-words: I can't even pay attention .....

At present we have 3 full time faculties. 3 more have been roped in for next year. So that makes it 6.

We do not have summer placements since the course is for 12 months only. However, for people who have come here for career shift, the institute assists in getting projects.

The institute interviews almost everyone who applies. As far as your case is concerned, I would say that the probability is quite high, though academics aren't the only things considered for admissions. The way you project yourself before the panel matters.

And sorry for the delay. Heavy rains in Chennai. No power. Cut off from the outside world.
