Depends on where you want to be and what you want to do Don't let others take decisions for you, decide what you want to be...talk to your seniors, find out what companies want for the profile that you are looking for. While going for Finance looks like a safer bet from your post, it all depends on whether you want to go for a hardcore finance profile, a pure marketing profile or a mixture of fin and mktg.

Hi guys,
Real good thread on specializations
Me too have certain queries regarding MBA in Retail Management...
I am a software engr (BE - Comp Sc) working with Infy (1.4yrs work exp) in Retail Domain, have worked on as a developer of Retail based management information reports, Merchandising/Store based systems(Retek - RMS/RSS which are purely retail business based) for two big retail clients.
What are the future prospects for a guy having MBA in RM with good retail based IT knowledge?
I have an offer of admission from SP Jain Singapore-Dubai for MBA-RM 1yr course, which will commence this december... | | | | | | | |

3)I m not able to find anywhere the list of colleges which offer this course.Would u plz provide the list of colleges which offer the same.
4)Although im working in s/w firm but i dont find myself much interested in technical stuff. Does this course include techinical stuff?

| If you mean an "MBA in HR" then u wont have technical stuff in the core course. the max u can come accross is something like an MIS (management info system) and its uses and various managerial aspects & possibilities it brings. But for electives u may have the provision of selecting SAP/ERP or some other system electives.
Hope this helps - | | | | | | | |

Hi Puys:
Really a commendable response and guidance given on the subject.
About me - Currently pursuing 1 year full time Ex-MBA at MDI, Gurgaon.
Graduation - B.Tech (Chemical), from HBTI in 2001.
Work Ex - Around Seven Years in FMCG Industry (Manufacturing):
1. ITC - Foods Division, 2 years. JD: Quality Assurance, Planning, Supply Chain (support)
2. TATA Chemicals, 1 year. JD: Operational Excellence, Production, Packaging functions
3. Adani Wilmar, 4 years. JD: Process, Commissioning, Maintenance.
Here I am also in the same dilemma, which specialization I should opt. I have keen for Marketing first then HR, not for Finance since not interested in Banking / FIs. MDI also permits for dual specialisation. Is it advisable to two specialisation in One Year MBA Program?
Request you puys please advise me, considering my work ex., interest and career prospects. ...................... Warm Regards Manoj Kumar Singh

Hello people,
Could someone also talk more about entrepreneurship specialization?
Whats its scope? Is the only option for such specialists is to start their own business or can they be involved as change specialists, innovation and expansion managers???
Hoping to get a lot of inputs,
Thanks,
