This thread is to discuss the happenings at the IIT B schools viz SJMSOM IIT B, VGSOM IIT Kgp, DMS IIT D, DOMS IIT R, IITM, and IITK in 2006. This will help the 2006-2008 batch of students to stay in touch and know about the events/happenings at other IIT B schools. Seniors are also invited to contribute their bit here.

Let me start with introducing myself ...

I am Ramesh, born and brought up in Delhi.
Work ex of almost 2 years in TCS Mumbai.
Joining SJMSOM, IIT Bombay this July.

Our classes are starting on 25th. We have our registration on 20th and 21st. Still not sure what to expect at IIT ... :neutral: But I am sure we are gonna have a lot of fun

What about the others? I heard that DMS, IITD guys got an assignment .. Abhi bhi usi me busy ho kya? I suppose we were the lucky ones ! Full timepass kar rahe hai 3 mahine se ..

Nice work Ramesh. Ok let me introduce myself too - I'm Abhishek, joined SJMSOM this year. Have workex of 3 years and 9 months in core electrical sector.
We have been having orientation + registration for the past 2 days and as Ramesh said, the classes will start on 25th.
Yesterday we had a visit by one of our alumni who is presently a prof at Harvard Business School, and on Monday we've got a visit by some MIT Sloan profs to look forward too.
Hope the activity on this thread is carried on by the other IIT management students too. Do let us know whats happening at your end. And seniors like Phooka, Manpreet, Teenage Dirt bag...would love to see you all contributing in here too.

I landed up here on the 19th. 19th-24th. dunno where the time has gone!! meeting PGites n others has been exhilarating to say the least. it's been exciting 6 days n hopefully the days ahead beat these..!! anticipations n excitement make a heady cocktail

classes start tomorrow . guess what, it's Financial Acc. the first one.

Hi . First an intro . I am Mahesh Krishnan. I too have joined SJMSOM this year. Have around 3 years work-ex from Perot Systems .

Its been nearly a week now since i came here , and to be honest , it feels like i've been here for atleast a month. There is so much to do in this campus. I instantly re-call what one of our profs has mentioned in our prospectus - "At IIT, if you're asleep for more than 5 hours , you're missing something". Is amazingly true. The environment here is such that u'll never run short of things to do , infact , i think as time goes on we will be loaded with quite a lot.

ANd would you believe it , our classes actually started only today , and we've been busy till then ! Started off with Financial accounting today , quite an interesting topic for engineers , so most of us were all ears !! Not to mention , most of us were busy preparing well in advance for class (Whether we keep this up in the future remains to be seen )

Also had a good session on Accounting Malpractises by Enron by a very renowned MIT faculty .. So its been quite a Financial day for us !!!

Anyway , would love to hear how the things are in other colleges as well..

Just had a day at DMS and so far its been an awesome experience.
Been going through orientation and all.
Although, have never walked so much in my life.
Distances between departments are huge and a lot of running around
is involved initially.
Seniors are not yet here but the batch is full of enthusiasm.
Not sure what lies in store , classes start in 2 days now.
will post more then... as things grow a bit lively!
still in the exploring mode!!

but, please, pu-leaze

pay me money to take your debt on my name, so that i can jack up the stock price artifically, as a company, which pays bonuses based on future earnings which are not accounted and reported as "probable earnings" in their financial statemnets


ENRON is a good example how copanies make moeny

either right or wron is for u to decide

some people say commies are bad for economy and creativity

some say they are good for farmers and suicides

Speaking of distances, it took the junta here just a day or two before they realised a cycle is an absolute must. Walking from the IIT main gate to the postgrad hostel takes a good 30 minutes easily. And unfortunately motorized vehicles have been banned completely (for the new students).
So anyway, today we had our first accounting class. A bit tough to digest initially but the blocks seem to be falling in place...the fact that the faculty expects us to be already aware of the chapter which she is going to teach makes it a bit tough. Tomorrow...statistical methods...sigh
