Irrespective of the fact that the high packages were lateral placements, ISB management should be commended for creating a b-school that can 'take on' the IIMs when it comes to attracting high-profile recruiters as well as catching the fancy of the media. Very impressive for a school that is not even 10 years old.
That said, i feel that the fee for the course is a bit too high. Note that the lowest Indian package (~11 Lac) has been less than the fee (~15 Lac). I am sure any grad from ISB would like to get atleast 1-1.2 times the fee.
High fees also means that the admission to ISB is a lot easier than IIMs, for now. With 1.8 Lac people appearing for CAT, the competition has become *insane*. With due respect, getting 650+ in GMAT is probably a lot easier than getting 99 percentile in CAT.
I believe ISB is targetting to ramp up seats to 800+, inline with practice at American schools. Compare this to 70 PGPX seats at IIM-A
