It is difficult to comment on your question related to 10+ years students changing industry. Usually, students with a lot of experience in a particular industy do not shift industries. However, there are exceptions. Domain shifts are common

Just wanted to add that most of the people with significant experience donot themselves want to switch careers. They come to MBA to jump few levels in their industry or go to some other function in the same industry. If you are keen on switching careers, then be prepared to take off several years of your workex because the other industry would only value the experience that is directly relevant to the job role in the new industry.This is common at all top schools in the world. For instance both at ISB or at Wharton etc, if you are coming even after 15 years of workex in tech R&D and end up in goldman sachs london, you would be given the same Ibanking associate role as somebody with lets say 2 years of workex in IT.
