The best time to take gmat is now, so that way you can apply before the R1 deadlines. However, you should take the gmat when you feel prepared. Applying in R2 isnt going to hurt your chances a lot. minhasprateet,
I need more info about your goals before i can answer your Q thomas,
your welcome buddy. I wish I could help more but UNC ppl are keeping me veryyyy busy. saket,
sorry buddy do not know much about Asian B schools, nor much about doctors + MBA. I do know that Vanderbilt has a pretty good healthcare MBA program. you might want to see their website.
hope this helps guys.

i knew this question was going to come up.
As regards to my short term goals i just want want a mba to get into health care industry to understand it better ( why ?)
Nw my long term goals i would like to open a company of my my own whn atleast by d time im 35 , and the industry would in which i would like to open it would be healthcare. But which branch (e.g. health care consultancy, Pharmaceuticals or even mat be health care insurance) would depend ont he market opportunity present at that time. Moreover i hope that mba in marketing would help me get a job in healthcare sector in which i can get to know the intricacies of the industry . I believe job would make me gain the valuable experience which would guide me when i open my own company.

Hi Anshul
I have a 3-yr sales and marketing experience in an IT services company. Have a CGPA of 3.1 in civil engineering. My GMAT score is not good...650. I am starting my application process now. Could you evaluate my profile and suggest a few colleges. I was targetting ISB, NUS, INSEAD..If you could tell me about a few colleges in US...would be really grateful
Thanks,

Hi All, am applying for fall 2009. I had some clarifications on the transcripts. Here they go: - Am a commerce student from Mumbai. Do I need transcripts for all five yrs i.e for Junior College, HSC, FY, SY, TY B Com or it is only for HSC and TY BCom or only for TY B Com.
- In case I have an M Com Part 1 degree, I suppose I’ll need a transcript for that also, separately, right? Just want to confirm.
- Are these transcripts available from the college or these are available at Mumbai University. I just found out from my college and they are ready to provide me transcripts for all 5 yrs. Just wanted to check whether the transcripts provided by the college and University are the same (if at all the University provides separate transcripts). Is there any rule that only transcripts provided by the University and not by the college is accepted by the Universities abroad ?
Am currently based out of India, so am having a bit of a problem co-ordinating with the Colleges and Universities. Just thought of posting my query here. Anyone who has information on this and may have gone through the process, pls let me know. Thanks and all the best to all 2009 applicants. Cheers! Mayur.

Hi,
I'd like to request a profile evaluation and suggestions.
Working as an electronics engineer in the embedded space with over 5 years of work exp. worked in the auto and energy metering space with a brief stint on RFID stuff as well.
Have decent acads from a reasonably well known institute(NIT). Workwise its been a mixed bag, with some very good initiatives coupled with absolute crap(whatever service industry could serve up). Extracurrics, active in sports during univ days with Tennis team captancy and cricket team representation alongside the usual organizing of extra curric events. Post univ, i have also had chances to work in marketting fairs like auto expo. Recently i have joined a startup company where i am also looking at setting up quality processes(although not formally, but since the dept. is new its an initiative i took, so defining development cycles, defining templates, teaching people on how to use them...its all very basic since its just the begginning)...alongside this i am also a master trainer with my corporate social responsibility group where i will be working on HIV/AIDS awareness areas)...Oh yeah, have a couple of onsites to throw with it...
MBA plans, would like to return back to Tech sector, more specifically in Auto high tech space..looking at roles that help define and improvise processes within the auto space(OEM-Supplier-Third party)..and also open to business development roles within the same space....thats the first preference, also open to the tech sector in general.
Have a gmat score of 710 with 5.5 in AWA.
Applying at ISB(although very clearly it seems that they only take engineers if the GMAT score is above 730)...also would like to apply at places which have a strong placement scene in the tech sector. also looking at Judge business school..
wiht my profile what do you think are my chances, and also if you could suggest some schools that i can look at.
thanks | | | | | | | |

@gadmax,
overall cost for a 2 yr MBA can range from 100k to 130k. People do get scholarships, but they process is very competitive.
@vivek,
You should look at the top 30 programs (ranked between 20 and 30). Try some in between 15-20 as stretch schools. One weakness in your profile is social service. All activites were done in college/school. MBA programs want to see recent ones.
@minhasprateet,
Look at Vanderbilt, Duke, UNC. Nashville is the healthcare hub of the US. and the other 2 schools have a great focus on it as well.
@lastdon,
ISB and INSEAD will be a problem because you come from the IT pool and your GMAT is on the lower side. NUS sounds more realistic. Look at Rochester, UW Madison, UWash Seattle, Purdue.
@mbaprep,
sent a PM to you with the answer.
Sorry for the late replies, been reallllyyyy busy. I will try to check this more often now. I will get to the other posts later today. Anshul UNC Kenan-Flagler Class of 2010
