The college authorities do not recommend it, but then some people (like me) do visit our families for night stay (on weekends and then sometimes on weekdays also), whenever my study schedule/activities permit me.

So at the approriate time, you can check with IIM authorities on this for your batch.

Sorry buddy I missed your post (although some of the points I have already replied in my earlier post)

DMVARS its heartening to know that you have decided to mentor/coach new PGS,its totally inline with the PG culture. I got hooked to PG,some 6-7 months back when my younger bro was applying to IIT's and IIMS for his MBA(made it to IITD & IITKGP) PG was a great help, and here i am still hooked on now trying to gather info when i plan to write GMAT and apply to ISB and IIML-pgpx IIMC

Gmat- To write- End July
Try to cross the psychological 700 barrier (anything beyond that is going to give you that much edge, if it's not your day and you fail to cross it, then you need to back yourself with a strong application)
Education-B.E( 64%)+ 2 yrs retail management/Merchandising program from NIFT(68%)
It helps to come from Engineering background (no offence meant to non-Engineers)

Work Ex- Retailing (Operations,Business development,Marketing)
Wow, that sounds like a wide-variety of experience and that too in the most sought after industry - RETAIL SECTOR, do you actually need to do a MBA
Current Profile-Brand Manager in a Retail major

Part Time exp- Visiing faculty for Fashion Retail Management course

Wanted a first hand information from you folks regarding the IIML-PGPX infrastructure.

1/are you guys getting a family housing...? cos things need to be planned accordingly

2/Any insight on the Faculty..? are there sufficient faculty at Noida campus of faculty keeps shuttling between Noida and Lucknow( My hometown)

3/Guys with 6-7 years work ex in your batch
There are people who have 6-8 years xp so that should not be an issue

4/Batch Strength expected for 2009-2010

5/Number of applicants expected for 2010 batch.?
Only time will tell, I thing it will be around 1500 (if not more)
thnks
So looks like you have a strong case(profile), but having said that the competiton is fierce, this ex-MBA trend has picked up really well.
For now focus on getting a good score in your GMAT and then spend quality time in filling your application form.

Good Luc !!!

Re: 1 year PGDX program at IIML NC – IPMX - 08-07-2008, 01:34 PM

Have 12 yrs exp in IT, tired of my monotonous job and want to do my MBA now. I woke up a bit late, and the dates for iim a & c have slipped.
Plan to take my GMAT in Oct,08. If my scores are good, then i can apply for IIM L NC. Should i also try for ISB? Am a bit skeptical as their experience cut-off is 2-3 yrs. Does any one know, what kind of placements were at ISB for experienced/old folks
Placement for first batch of IIM L NC would be over by now? How was it?

Just as another option, you can try out for XLRI one year program too ! Visit XLRI School of Business and Human Resources, Jamshedpur, Business Management School India, Executive Education Programme, Personnel Management, Industrial Relations Programme. --> General Management Program.
Fairly competitive batch with excellent profile and good placements.

Hi

Reg One year MBA courses just go through other threads in pg...all questions wud be answered.
Reg IIML NC hope you meet the criteria of 6 years ...
A good GMAT score would definitely help but also let me point out that overall package is what finally counts.Build up strong +ve factors in your application ( and don't worry much ..!)
WMP is the 'eveninig' /part time MBA course run from IIML NC campus. The profile of the student is good and most of them I think are based in and around NCR.Unlike part time MBAs,WMP is a rigorous course so quality wise it is really good.If you want to work and study and if you currently based in NCR WMP can be an option.

good luck...
Sunil

Thanks sunil...
I checked the site..
its specifically written
"Since this programme is for the Working Managers, the Institute will not offer any placement facility to students"
so i m in doubt how it will help the person who wants to shift his field from IT ...ya will check with current WMP students
anyway thanks for the help....
