Use the next one year to get familiarized with the process, the pros and cons and then i am sure you will do better than what you'd do now. You never play any game without knowing the rules

Yeah, that is the option I'm leaning towards as of late since I don't really know what I want yet.

I suppose no harm in gaining another year of work experience and saving more $ to fund this education.

Would you guys not even consider a 2nd tier school like Boston College or Boston University? Many people say that the cost of a top tier school isn't worth it considering the financial assistance the lower tier schools provide to strong students.

I really think its about where you want to end up after your education. you must have a half decent idea about the type of company and the type of profile you want post your MBA. Why don't you check out business week and see if these companies come to the 2nd tier campuses? And I don't understand why you are in such a hurry to do your MBA this year..

That's an issue of personal choice...
It is really upto you to decide that

The logic behind the rush is a bit complicated. As I indicated in my first post, I was thinking of going part time since my company will reimburse me in full for my MBA. The catch to this benefit is that I would have to work 2 years after completion of the degree for them to pay it in full. I figured that the earlier I started my MBA, the earlier I could have the freedom of switching jobs and not taking on large debt.

Now that the plan is changing to go full time, I suppose there's no need to rush, it's just that I was in the mindset that I would start school in the fall next year.

I am not sure which industry or company I would like to work in...you Indian born guys like to have everything planned out way in advance. Here in the US, we drift along and see where life takes us I do know I want to work in Finance, but that is about it. The two 2nd tier schools I mentioned are very well known in this region and even throughout the country, it's just that they don't have the reputation of a top tier school.

Agreed, I'm just trying to figure out the reasoning that you guys would use in my shoes. I know I must take what you guys say with a grain of salt because competition for me is not the same as it is for you all. I already live in the US, have US work experience and have a degree from a US college. That said, I could definitely benefit just as much if I went to a good school

Kellogg Query - 22-12-2006, 03:39 AM

I don't know why now, but I always believed Kellogg has a gauranteed loan program for International students without US Citizen or Permanent resident cosigner. But now I can't find anything that says so.

People who have researched on Kellogg, can you tell me if there is or there is no gauranteed loans like the other top bschools ?

Thanks a lot.

I believe that depends on the college in question...

Some colleges do not review applications until they recieve all supporting docs (Including official test reports).

Others give a "Conditionally Complete" status and review the application..but in case they decide to offer you an admit..they shall ask for the official reports.

I don't think ANY college will take scores reported only by the applicant.

My Take: If you are really interested in the college, request the GMAC to send official score report to the college at the earliest. Helps a lot in timely decision.

Re: Kellogg Query - 24-12-2006, 06:11 PM

Yes that is very much possible. If the college clearly mentions it then there is no need to send the scores till you get an admit. NUS - Singapore also allows students to self-report their scores and the student needs to forward the official scores only in the case of an admit. So I guess if the college application instructions clearly mention it then I don't think you need to forward your official GMAT and TOEFL scores as of now. I ad confirmed this fact with the NUS admissions committee.
