Most often, a candidate sounds much more impressive in essays than during an interview.

A few tips to prepare:

- Review your application components and know it inside out. Identify gaps where you can be grilled.

- Read specific threads on the PG forums related to the school that you are interested in.

- Review the website of the school again to refresh memories - find out what's important to them. Talk to a few alums in possible.

- Have a few mock-interviews done by someone who understands how B-school interviews go.
This will give you an idea of where you sound confident and evaluate areas where you are likely to stumble.

- Experiment before the actual interview, not during.

Remember that an admissions interview can be very different from a regular job interview.
So the last two points can be critical and will get you in the right frame of mind.

All in all, realize that the Adcom isn't your enemy. They want good candidates to get in too. Candidates who know their stuff and are well-prepared to address any concerns they might have, after reading your application.

Good luck.

hi all...

Can anyone plz suggest me consultants for applications???

I've selected some on the basis of their fees
1) access education, noida
2) The Chopras
3) achievers point

What's ur opinion for these consultants???

Are the charges asked by them (25K to 30 K) worth spending???

Hello,

I need information abt something guyz. I was thinking of pursuing an MBA
frm abroad but few of my friends have told me to consider doing an MS in Management instead of an MBA as many univs accept ppl with little or no experience for an MS( HEC Paris, LSE etc). Now can somebuddi plz suggest
what are the Pros and cons of doing an MS in management instead of an MBA in marketing. And also wil the post MS salary be enough to repay my loans and all? Thank you.

I have an 'M.Sc. in Management' (its nowhere called an 'MS' in Europe) from Lancaster, U.K. An 'MSc. in Management' all over Europe is a 'conversion course' where only people WITHOUT an undergrad degree in business apply. Although, if you are looking for a specialization in marketing, I'd suggest a 'MSc. in Marketing'. You need to prove some related courses in your undergraduate degree during the applications for admissions.

As for job prospects, an MSc is nowhere close to an MBA, just for the factual reason that an MSc does not have a stringent work experience criteria whereas an MBA has. This is the same reason why MSc Management students are chosen as analysts and MBAs are chosen as Associates. Just to give you an idea, I have four years of work-ex after my MSc in Management and I am looking for an MBA option now.

Re: Phoren B-school Assistance Desk - 07-11-2009, 11:40 AM

Hi guys,

Am new to the forum and need some help in deciding which schools to apply (either US or Europe).

GMAT Score - 730, Exp - 4.5 yrs in IT industry (including 2.5 yrs running a start-up).

My primary criteria for the selection are
1) Good Fin and IT vertical (specially VC/ PE firms recruiting from campus)
2) Schol opportunities (even partly)

Would be great if anyone out there can help me as I am pretty much in the dark right now.

thanks.

Ssin:

Can you provide a little more detail about yourself. What was your role in the startup? Why are you looking for an MBA program and what are your post-MBA goals? Any specific geographical preference?

Thanks Martian .

1) I was one of the three partners in the start-up and a director on the board and mainly handled operations, investment deals and marketing.

2) I am looking to work in VC/ PE industry but a challenging general management position in an MNC (industry agnostic) also excites me.

3) No special geographical preference.

Would be really great if you can get back with the answer to my queries

cheers !!
