Lightbulb An Update on UK VISA requirements - 24-02-2006, 06:53 PM

Hey just attended the Seminar conducted by the British High Commission Chennai on the students VISA requirements. Some of the things that surprised me were

1) When we have to apply for the VISA they require proof of liquid funds. Property/shares are not accepted as liquid funds.
2) If we intend to use funds from a relative in UK/Gulf then they need to transfer the funds in your name before you can appply for the VISA.
3) We can apply only 3 months in advance.
4) They want to see the source of the funds in addition to the funds. So if there is a deposit just before the VISA(like how we do it for the US VISA) it wont be acceptable. They need to know the source of funds and insist on 6 months bank statements.

Re: An Update on UK VISA requirements - 10-04-2006, 11:26 AM

hey, can anyone suggest me a good visa consultant in hyderabad....i have 4 deposits totalling 28 lakh in this month, and out of them 15 lakh is a loan, for which i can show the proof. but the other 13 lakh is two of my dad's relatives paying back the money that they've borrowed from my dad before...how do i show the proof for that - passbooks of those relatives will be enough? Why exactly do they check where the money came from anyways??
any inputs will be highly appreciated! i am planning to apply in another 10 days...so will keep you guys updated!!

Hi F-color,

I would suggest that you wait for a while and dont apply immediately. In the open house the High Commission folks had specificaaly pointed out that claiming that people are returning borrowed money is a strict no-no and is a sign of fraud.
So I would say just let the money lie in the accounts(or in FDs) for a couple of months before applying for the visa and then they wont question it.
