People who will withdraw their admits will do so only late March or first week of April (atleast majority of them). So, hang in there. It ain't over till the fat lady sings!

Btw, appln volume at Emory is up nearly 45% this year, compared to last year
True. I shall wait till 1st week April.
Also, are there any applicants admitted without an interview ? Specifically any international applicant. Does anyone know of any such applicant ?
I am asking this since I was put on wait list without any interview.

Regards,
Kaushal.

I seriously pray the admitted students get better schools (thier higher priority schools over Emory) and people like me get a chance.

Yeah.. they havents assigned any WL number. Got a clue whats the reason for this?

Thnx,
Kaushal.
They wont give any number because they will be replacing similar profiles for the drop outs. For eg, if some one from IT drops out, the chances are high that he will be replaced by IT person. Same is the case with nationality also.

I am not sure, but AFAIK, all the admitted students are interviewed. I have seen Emory placing few applicants on waitlist without interview. That means the applicant is good enough to fill the slot, but the slots are already filled. If any place gets freed, they will definitely interview the waitlisted people.

Goizueta for Finance - IB - 20-04-2006, 05:06 PM

Hi All,

I wanted to know about the Finance program at Emory. I am interested in IB but since location matters a lot and it helps being closer to NY, would that be against Emory as Atlanta is not exactly close by.

Your thoughts will be appreciated.

I would be apping for Fall 2007

Regards
Sumit

NY might be your FIRST choice for finance but it`s not the ONLY place to study finance, not necessary that the quality of finance program is inversely proportional to it`s distance from NY . Atlanta may not be as hot as NY for finance, but it definitely is a great place for jobs, finance included.

Check out the fifth post above your post, where i had asked the same question, ages ago.

Approvals and celebrations will rarely surround your inner decisions and choices to follow Personal Truth. You will be challenged and taunted: “Who do you think you are, anyways?” And, indeed, through your choices and decisions, that is precisely the question you are answering–to yourself.

Sumit,
I think Crash has answered your question, but here are the numbers for you:

Of all the students (class of 2005), here is the breakup of jobs secured through Goizueta CMC:

Industry Finance: 11%
IB: 13%
Portfolio/Asset Mgmt: 4%

So in total, more than 25% were placed in fields related to finance. Though Atlanta is far from NY, its not a bad place for finance. However, you should look at other schools as well, which are highly regarded for finance (Wharton, Yale, Stern et al).

At Emory, consulting has the biggest numbers - 22%, followed by marketing - 15%.

IMPORTANT -- ATTN: < 50% GRADUATES.
IIMs ARE GOING FOR MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA AT GRADS SET AT 50%.
KINDLY START A NEW THREAD AND DO SOMETHING, OTHERWISE WE WILL BE KICKED OUT OFF CAT'06 ANYWAYS.
