Sounds like some serious time management problems. How many hours do you spend on preparation after coming back from office? Is office consuming too much time? (Think "why?" if you answer "yes" to the last question.)

In most cases, it's the bag of increasing responsibilities that makes people lose the steam, not age. As long as you're able to balance it all, it'll be fine. But looking at the work-life-prep time management problems most people have even in the earlier years of their after-graduation life, it would predictably be difficult for them to balance it later.

i think u r bang on target about "increasing responsibility"...i should learn to delagate by reading some Peter Drucker articles......hope no one in this forum loses steam and continue follow their MBA dreams.....

hi
I am yet another one of those software professional... even i have been working for almost 9 months now. there s only one way to study while working

cut down on sleep, tv etc etc...

after i get bac from work, i jus relax for awhile and then start my prep... and try to squeeze in bout 3 hours...... til arnd 1 or 2. and then only sleep. there s almost no other way.

Weekends especially hav to be utilised to the max, atleast during the day time.

Adios

I thought that I thought, therefore I was, but then I thought that had I not thought, would I be not? Then I realized, I think BECAUSE I am!!!

My situation is dire.....gotta pull up....leave frnds...and other shitty timepass .....for a year.

hello..
just read this thread..n i understand the difficulties u guys r facing..co zi travel in the same boat however..i have given cat twice
cat-04..college final ye..97% bad sectionals no calls from mdi, nitie too
had campus palcement in cognizant for nov-05 posting..so gave
cat-05 again..
mind u this time i wasn't takin any chance su guys won't believ ethe number of hours i put in..i was working in careerlauncher as verbal faculty till i joined cognizant..i quit that job 2 4 cat..ahd no frend sin town..no going out..nothing..just glued myself to books..gave both CL and time mock tests did heck a lot analysis
finishe ddamn career forum papers too...had finished time material in 04 so fifnished CL material in 05..
in short there were time si gave8-10 hrs in the end..
read loptsa non-fiction books..2 develop hardcore verbal(though its my strong point wnated to crack it)
now u'll aks me y i m telling all this.
come cat-05..went well..thgt i did better than all the bloody mocks which i topped(alos many which i screwed)
results...
78%!!!!!!!!!!!
coz verbal was 43%..supposedly my STRONG POINT!!

i was already working by then...i had other entrances so didn't lose heart..
i dind't gte nay time 2 study for the otehrs entrances since i was already working at that time..i studied only in the weekends..did one mock each that 2 not seriously and maybe 4-5 days of study for 1-2 hours thats it..

i gt 97% in jmet..486 rank(its a different case taht iit-d decided to unrealistically escalate its standards and stopped giving calls at 449 whne it gave calls till 750 last yr)

xat-97.355..good splits(again xlri decided i was not worth BM..didn't apply to PMIR)

spjain..no calls with grt extra currics and some national level scholarships(though at school level)
fms- did really well obviously no call agian..
finally mica call-done with my gd/pi awaiting results
given tiss-awaiting results

now...u guys must be wondering ki kyoon main apni raam kahani suna rahee hoon...well thst becoz i've learnt a heck lot from all this..

i don say cat is completely luck based but yes..the effort u put is very imp esp the startegy..don get bogged down my the number of hours u guys put in..its no way imp..its how much u KNOW URSELF..UR STRENTGHS..UR WEAKNESSES..AND THE WAy UR MIND REACTS UNDER TIME PRESSURE IS WHAT MATTERS..anaylse urself inside out vis-vis mocks n get ur basics strong..if the right analysis is done...30 tests in one whole yr r more than enugh 2 crack cat...the no.of hours per day depends on u..its just level of confidence some ppl work more on verbal some on quant...

V V IMP: ITS A FREE KOOL ATTITUDE AND MIND THTs WHT IS REQUIRED...
DON THINK THTs CAT IS EVRYTHING ON THIS EARTH N THINK ABT IT EVERY LIVING MINUTE OF UR DAY...SPARE SAY 2 HRS BUT SOLID 2 HRS BEYOND THAT IS NT NECESSARY(I MEAN EVEN 5 OR 10 WHTEVER) ITS A PSYCOLOGICAL GAME A CHARACTER TEST OF HOW MUCH U'VE GT IT IN U..THTS IT..
y i did much better in all the exams i was very bindaas with coz all i conc on was...a little bit of basics n a clear cut idea of strategy and then lotsa dos and donts but no endless worry abt wht will happen in this situation..no contemplation of the pattern of the paper..no expectations..clear bindaas mind..no hype associated with the level of importance associated with the exam..just like any other mock-cat in fact nt even tht much

y i posted this is becoz..i saw the same frenzy attitude in simpu that i had when i gave cat-04..it doesn't work out guys i m telling u from experience..i hope ppl appreciate my views coz no offence meant

ATB
PRATHI

n ye its too early to fret abt mocks!!!!!!!!!!ask ppl like us....when the top scores suddenly start falling..in mocks before the d-day!!..conc on ur baiscs 1st n then sectional tests then startegize experiment n blah blah
