GMAT Game On!! - 30-06-2008, 09:59 PM

Hello everyone!

Been following the PG threads on GMAT and foreign MBA programs for a while as part of my plans to apply to a couple of specific MBA programs next year (Fall '09). I have my GMAT appointment in the first week of August and have been preparing for it since the last couple of weeks. Have read some very interesting/useful/insightful threads from Keya, Ankush among others (apologies but too many handles to remember!) and thought I will start a thread myself for a couple of reasons:

a. Would like to keep track of my preparation progress.
b. Would like inputs from others (who have either already given the test or are preparing to) on sequencing the various material, tips, feedback, etc.
c. Would like to make observations on GMAT preparation from time to time that others might find useful (or might find just plain crappy!)

Ok, as mentioned, I have started preparation and have given a couple of diagnostics:

1. Princeton Demo (Online) - 700 - Q(51), V(36) [This was the test I took even before I began prep. Verbal went for a toss!]
2. Kaplan Diagnostic (Online) - 660 - Q(43), V(40) [Too many stupid mistakes in quant]

Have collected a bunch of material almost entirely from online sources:

1. 800 Score - A whole bunch of sectional and full tests
2. ARCO - Master the GMAT (2007) - Softcopy of the entire book
3. Barron's GMAT - Two CATs and two practice tests along with some sectional practice areas.
4. GMAT Official Guide, 10th Edition - Only Verbal practice sets. No theory
5. Kaplan CD - The 4 CATs
6. Manhattan Verbal Guide - Only theory
7. Princeton Review GMAT Verbal Workout
8. A whole bunch of miscellaneous stuff

(P.S: If anyone needs the material, just drop me a PM with your mail address)

Ok, apart from the two diagnostics (comments on the scores anyone?), have munched up the Manhattan guide (darn good stuff!), have been polishing skills on all the Misc. material available and I am currently going through the Princeton Verbal Workout.

Would like to hear comments from those who have given their GMAT test on whether I need to get my hands on any other material, I should be sequencing the material in any particular order, etc.

Mods: This is more of a personal tracking and betterment sorta thread which might/might not be entirely useful to the rest of the junta. So, should you feel the need to take it down, let me know

Cheers!

Guys, just gave the Manhattan Prep Online Diagnostic Test. Man! what a whopper! Got rolled over in both Quant and Verbal. Probably the only diagnostic I have taken till now where I had time constraints in Quant! Finished the section with 1 sec to spare.

Score: 710 Q(49, 90 percentile), V(37, 83 percentile)

This test has cast serious doubts on my ability to do well on the GMAT. Could anyone provide inputs on how this score correlates to a score on the GMAT?

Cheers guys!

To track progress of self, use a blog please. You will meet a whole lot more people, not necessarily Indian and that'd be a great thing for you.
