I also took the Kaplan CAT1 today morning, same story here.. got 580 (Q42, V29)... Math was supposedly my forte, but the pillars are shaken now...Verbal was really tough, first few qs were easy, but when they started the RC, it was all down hill from there.... Even if we add 80 or 100 to this score, its still pathetic... Hitting the basics again... One month to go.. AUG 30

Hey Siddharth,
Congrats on the awesome score. Can you share your details regarding your prep strategy like the books that you refferred and the CAT's that you took. And what according to you were the key insights that you think would help others like me in preparation for GMAT.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers !!

Hi NiDo,

sorry for the late reply..
thanks
ya, regarding the study material.
i believe the most important part is to follow a step by step methodology. below is the sequence which i followed

1. princeton review
2. kaplan premier program
3. OG GMAT
4. manhattan sentence correction
5. kaplan verbal
6. OG Verbal
7. kaplan 800

the test that i took were
1. kaplan
2. princeton
3. powerprep
4. gmat prep

now, this doesn't mean that u do each and everything from this list. just do what you feel will benefit you most. like in my case, i was confident of quant, so i totally skipped quant part. i did quant only from kaplan 800 and some part of OG gmat.

something regarding test...
plz plz plz,, dont tate score of kaplan to you heart,,, they are real moral sinkers,,, they are no way correct indicators of one's level. i got 580 and 600 in it. there must be some logic why those people made their test like this, but it is out of my comprehension limits.
power prep tests are good,,, but u might find repetition in tests. whereas you can safely give gmat prep each papre twice and still will encounter very few repeated questions.

Hope this helps in some way to somebody.

and also hope i am not breaking any copyright or law,,,

regards,
Siddharth

hi frnds,

Can someone please help me?

Please suggest 5 colleges that i can apply, assuming that i will get something around 710-730...and considering that i want to focus primarily on the colleges that are oriented in FINANCE or are renouned for finance...i have 2 yrs of work ex in heathcare sector.

ps : i'd really appreciate if its a practical suggestion...rather than a glimpse of a distant possibility like Harvard or LBS

Hi guys!

I took the Kaplan CD Test1 today and got 610. M-50, V-31. My confidence is shattered. I don't know how to gauge this score. Any comments?

Regards

Hey guys!
Just go to the princeton website for one free full length test. You can take that online. Others, you can download them from esnips.com.
Cheers!

Hey Karan,

Dont worry about the Kaplan scores dude. You must add 100 to the Kap test to get an idea on the actual score you might get ( plus or minus 50 ). So that places u @ 710. If you practice a little more u could score better. I used to get an avg. of 620 in the Kap tests - finally scored 750. So dont worry dude.

Cheers,
c00|guy
