Its great that you are doin the prep on your own , but please do consult ppl & websites before u start your prep.Reading your above quote I would like to advise you that
1) You are taking GMAT & Not GRE!! Why are u studying Barrons & Word Power???
GMAT no whr tests your vocab ..what you'll be tested for is your grammar - study Senence Correction & Critical Reasoning.
2) With a focused & informed approach you really don't need 6 months. 3 months is more than sufficient for cracking the GMAT even if you are startin from a scratch.
3) I agree that advise is for free & all can give it..but what I am saying cumes 4m experience..I had takn my GMAT in June 2007 & got a 750.As regards comparing it with GRE , I had taken that too 2-3 yrs back & got a 1450..So trust me when I say you dont need vocab to crack GMAT only logic & focus!
