760 (Q51, V41) 05Aug07 - 08-08-2007, 10:16 AM

All:
Finally took gmat on 05Aug07 and got 760, a bit better than what I wanted. Thankyou all puys, some of your posts helped me in sustaining my tempo till the day of the test.

Prep details :
1) OG10 - OG is a must
2) SC - Manhattan SC - its a bible
3) Princeton Review - Gives a different view, which helps in some sections. I was a bit concerned about AWA, but Princeton gave a way to prepare for it. I did not use the approach described in Princeton, but the approach described definitely helped me in imrpving my writing skills.
4) Reading pagalguy atleast once a week.

OG's quant is not sufficient. I realised this just 2 days prior to test day, so could not do much about it. My (over)confidence on quant lead me to ignore it till last week. For most of quant is bread and butter, do not ignore it. Dont have to spend a tonne of time, but dont keep it aside either. In verbal, for SC, keep a record of all the mistakes you make. That helps a lot. Read Manhattan SC material, go through OG SC. Almost Every question in there has new tips. Keep marking them and review them atleast twice. You will be amazed at the improvement (and actually start enjoying the english language).

Cheers everyone,
ATB

Now, when we fought, you had that eye of the tiger, man; the edge! And now you gotta get it back, and the way to get it back is to go back to the beginning. You know what I mean?See that look in their eyes, Rock? You gotta get that look back, Rock. Eye of the tiger, man.

I agree with you Amit. This year can be a turning point for PG as far as GMAT is concerned. So far we used to hear many success stories about CAT and IIMs but this season onwards, same will be true for GMAT and International B-school as well. Previous success stories at PG have motivated people and now they are going all out for kill.

Almost every other day somebody is posting about 750+ and now people with 700 to 740 (a good score by itself) don't feel like posting anymore.

What about you. Satisfied with FMS or trying abroad or CAT again.

Regards

Arun

congrats dear.
atb for apping
if possible pls help me out . i have tried to find the answer to this question at many places, but so far no good.could
you pls throw some light that approximately how many questions one can get wrong in quant and verbal to get say a score of 43/44 and 48/49 respectivel.y. or better still if there is proper table. i understand that GMAT is adaptive and it depends at which point you made the error is crucial still there must be some rough estimates, coz, in GMAT prep that I gave I had 720 (verbal 42, quant 48, despite getting 13 wrong in each sec tion. what has been your experiemce in GMAT prep? and I am referring to total wrong questions including those experimental questions.

simply speaking if I am looking at 48/49 quant and 44/45 verbal how many questions at max can i get wrong?

Thankyou all again!
Devil.. I am also no expert in this area, but will share you my experience.

Powerprep Test 1: 730
Quant - 7 wrong, Verb - 11 wrong
Powerprep Test2: 770
Quant - 6 Wrong, 51 , Verb - 5 wrong, 44

The questions that go wrong could be the dummy questions which are being tested for future tests. So there may not be a straight forward correlation betwee no. of wrongs and score. In case, midway through the test, you see a very easy question or a very tough question, chances are that it is a test question.
