Took 6 mock exams from various sources and scored in the range 600-650 . I've read in many posts that the Powerprep and GMAt prep simulate your real score and I just cant seem to get past the 700 barrier .
On analysis i've found verbal to be my work point (a 60 percent) hit rate while the quanta hit rate hovers around the 90 percent mark .
I need advice from you guys out there on when I should write the test.Should I postpone my test date ? My preparation books are Kaplan , Princeton, OG 11 and the OG verbal guide .
Also any timing strategies I should use for verbal ? I am using the '12 questions in 25 minutes ' strategy for quanta which seems to be working pretty ok . I need help !!!
I guess u r as prepared as i am now ...

even i want to get past 700 and my GMAt is scheduled on 6th Dec ...

well .. thts my case ...

for you if you dont want anything less than 700 ...i wud suggest if u can postpone plz do so ... coz i guess having less than 7 days to aim for 700+ from 650 is not possible ... !! better postpone and prepare and strike when you are fully prepared and confident.

thts my opinion ... any senior PGites can suggest better !!

Re: Low GMAT score. Please Help! - 29-11-2006, 02:59 PM

Guys,

My depressions and frustrations had grown to its peak when i gave GMAT today, it was a nice day and i thought i cud @least get a 650 score(considering the prior GMATPrep tests in which i got 650 average score -- highest being 680 for GMATPrep test-2)

I scored only 580 (quant-46, verbal-21) .... this is the most depressing day for me ... after all my 3-4 hrs a day preparations for last 2 months(im studyng for past 6 months though)...balancing work and studies ... sometimes even srewing up work coz i thot i need to study first.

whoever said that everybody has a range in which u can get a GMAT score and not beyond your range is very true !!!! I tried hard for reaching 700 ... and no matter how hard i try ... i guess im only worth 580 !!!

Regards

Re: Low GMAT score. Please Help! - 13-05-2008, 12:22 PM

Hi All need ur inputs!!
I知 stuck at 650(590 in Kaplan tests)
Well, I致e been targeting a decent overall score of at least 750 + in GMAT for the last 2.5 months now.My usual concern is verbal area.
I started with Kaplan Premier. After finishing this I tried GMATPrep and got only 600(qa 50 va 23)
After this I moved to OG-11. I have already done Critical reasoning and sentence correction thrice with OG (Rc only 1 time ..). I have tried all the Kaplan tests on CD and the scores are dismal.
Kap 1 570 (qa 50,va 24)
Kap 2 560 (qa 50 va 23)
Kap 3 550 (qa 50 va 22)
Kap4 590 (This I tried two weeks ago with scores as 28 in va and 50 in qa
also have maintained the error log of both SC and CR for OG-11.)
I also did GMATPRep 1 after Kap2 and scored 650 (qa 52 va 25)
Princeton Online (free) 650 (Qa 50 va 30)
Princeton Online 2 650 (qa 50 va 31)
However I found them pretty easy compared to Kaplan
Only improvement I saw in myself was in understanding in sc and CR. (For e.g I知 able to eliminate 3 out of 5 options and since the last two-three tests is finding very difficult to choose between the rest two). I think I have improved a lot in SC from Manhattan SC. However I still face problems in sc such as in misplaced modifiers, in distinguishing from infinitives and gerunds. In CR, I think, I fair very badly on questions related to inference. In RC ,I fair pretty bad in those questions that ask answers from the combination of I,II ,III
I知 somehow unable to get first few questions correct in any test up til now . My accuracy rate for first 10 questions in verbal is very low (hardly I did more than 5 correct). Of late I have discovered a unique pattern in verbal. In the middle say from q 15-q23 I get either all correct or all wrong .Same is the case later(37-41).
I think I知 ok in quant.
I usually put up 2-3 hours for GMAT study daily. Having already preprared for CAT , I thought I壇 be prepared better but still not able to improve on my scores.
I have already started doing 1000 series for RC only.
Please suggest me how to improve my score further up.
