Help..Much lower GMAT score than Powerprep - 17-09-2006, 10:14 PM

Hi,

I just took the GMAT yesterday and got a score of 630. My split was 30 V and 48 Q both lower than my powerprep scores..

I scored a 750( 42 V 50 Q ) and 740( 41 V 50 Q ) on powerprep1 and powerpre2 CAT. I did not do the OG exercises before taking the Powerprep tests. I did not complete the OG infact as I did not have the time.

The scored in my other tests were

Kaplan CAT1 - 650 ( 50Q 33V )
Kaplan CAT2 - 620 ( 50Q 30V )
Princeton Rv - 690 ( 45 Q 38V ) ( Taken two months back )
Princeton Rv - 660 ( 41 Q 39V ) ( Taken two months back )

Given that most people indicate that powerprep is a good estimate of the final GMAT score I am wondering how my final GMAT score could have been this far away ( 110-120 points ). Does this happen a lot ?

Also, I am retaking the GMAT is 2 months time. Any ideas on where I can get new CAT's and material.

Thanks

Vijay

Hi fundoo,

Nice to hear back from someone.

The odd thing is I was not nervous while taking the exam. I was confident of doing well and thought that the test had gone OK. I knew I had kind of messed up the Quant part coz i got stuck on a question and had to guess the last 5 questions.

What would I rate my score to be around ? I am assuming you are asking what I thought my score was before actually seeing it.. I was expecting about a 730 . I knew i had messed up the quant part, but i thought verbal went as normal...

Anyways , I HAVE to do the GMAT again. The one area that I would like to concentrate on is SC as my accuracy in it was only 85%. I think that it may have let me down. My accuracy on the CR and the RC hovered around 90-95%.

Any ideas on what I can do to improve. Where can I get new material. I have done half the OG 11 , Kaplan 800 , Kaplan and PR. I need more text material and more CAT's which will be representative of the GMAT.

Thanks

VIjay
