Hi Isha.Kaul,
It is my gud luck that I am not too uncomfortable with preparing GMAT. Even i am a little confident dat i will get call from top us bschool. But it might be my bad luck dat i belong to a middle class family which can't afford my tuition fee. So please tell me how can i solve this problem.

please some1 curtail my doubt by answering my queries.
QUERY1:Why GMAT and not CAT, If CAT then why not GMAT?
Actually I want to do that which provide more exposure to competition , enhance your personality and last but not the least giving minblowing PACKAGE.
QUERY2:Is there any difference between the importance of MBAdegree from IIM Ahmedabad and top US Bschool?

1)
CAT -> for schools that accept CAT
GMAT -> For schools that accept GMAT

More Exposure to competition -> Both are same in this regard. [ esp with the huge increase in number of ppl giving GMAT. And assuming GMAT is a complete process involving applying to b-Schools ]

Enhance Personality -> Why do you want CAT and GMAT to enhance ur personality.
Mindblowing Package -> !!!!

2)

Yes. Top 10 in US wud be better than IIM A in many aspects, especially salary. [ again, depends on what you want to do in life. IIM and Indian B schools are better in certain regards ]

Plz spend some time and go thru the different posts and threads.. There is literally a wealth of info.

I am currently working in Patni Computers with an expirence of 1 yr, so by the time i will apply for Universities,i will have an experience of 1.5 yrs.

Re: gr8!! - 24-05-2008, 03:48 AM

Hi friends,
I completed my btech in CS in 2005 and after that i went for preparing for civils or ias even though i had a option for a job as its my childhood dream. I tried my level best in my attempts but it needs some luck to get on top in the competition and i m failed. But i m happy that i gained lot of knowledge in different fields and now i dont want to stop here and i wanna pursue a mba. I reserved my date for gmat test on 28thjuly 2008 and preparing for it. But i am confused what i need to tell the universities i will apply about my past 3 yrs experience..i think they dont get convinced if i tell them abt my ias preparation. we have a family business and i m involved in it from my childhood partially. So plz help me with ur suggestion whether its better to tell them about my preparation or do i need to claim that i worked for my fathers business..i m very much confused..plz give me ur suggestions..thanks a lot..

Hi

Yes, you have a good chance of getting a scholarship. Esp since you are targetting top 50-70 colleges.
Again, a lot depends on ur essays, grades, extra curricular etc.

In your application you can mention that you worked in your fmily business. And also mention about your IAS prep. Essays are about weaving an interesting story.

I would suggest you quickly give GMAT in the next 2-3 months. And give one more try for IAS.

Also, apply for indian b schools.
