Re: GMAT Query Centre - 29-07-2007, 04:08 PM

My gmat score is 700+ and 2 yrs work ex.
After gmat I am at a standstill . I aim for ISB this year but am not able to focus well on my application.
Now I intend to join some application counselling which can help me in the whole process. I dont have any intentions to have my essays written by them but a general guidance is what I am looking for

Out of ITB and ******** which is better.
Also if any other option.

TIA

You've not mentioned your target schools you'll be sending your GMAT scores to...

Chances get slimmer if you apply in round 3 and most probably you'll miss the opportunity of getting scholarships if you apply in Rounds 2/3.

Assuming you want start your MBA by Monsoon 2008, (ie applying this academic year 07-08 ) it's quite difficult to try for foreign MBA after checking with your indian entrance test/ GDPI jazz.
Round 2 ends @ Jan
& Round 3 generally @ March/april leaving you less period for application process and GMAT study.

PS I'm talking about US MBA programs.

[Attention:anamika123]Yes, she will have enough time for R1 of 2008 so that she can apply for class of 2009-2011. (since R1 ~Oct-Nov of year)

I think Aspirant008 has already answered to your query somewhere...refer to his answer.

And do you really want to spend $250 as a back up plan?
There are not many b-schools in India who accepts GMAT as alternative test.

1. have some patience. it takes some time for mba.com to evaluate your profile. They check whether you've registered twice or something....

2. I always suggest August as ideal time for GMAT!
You would already have lost many important schools Round 1 deadlines by 29 th Oct.

3. approach NGO. [sorry I couldnt answer simpler ]

Cool Re: How to start the prep for GMAT - 31-07-2007, 08:39 AM

Hello,

Well I am also planning to take GMAT by the end of September and according to me
1. Start with Princeton and solve all the sample questionnaire for Quanti'
2. Get on with Kaplan premier and Kaplan gmat 800 and finish the Quanti section
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for Verbal
4. Take the preparation test from princeton, kaplan and GPrep
5. By watching the results you should be able to figure out where you lag and brush up again on those topics
6. Books I am using includes Kaplan 800, kaplan premier edition, kaplan verbal workout, OG and Princeton

These books should be more than sufficient for you to get proper "fundas" for quantitative and verbal.

All the best,

Cheers,
Sammy

Re: How to start the prep for GMAT - 01-08-2007, 12:22 AM

hi folks

cud u ppl (probably past gmat-takers) be kind enuf to explain the difference in the difficulty levels of OG and official GPREP tests?

i feel tht the questions in GPREP tests are somewht more difficult as compared to OG (i agree tht these tests have some OG questions, but it seems tht only the toughest from OG have been chosen for the tests).
i was referring especially to maths and sc

the maths questions in gprep are ne day trickier than those in princeton, powerprep, OG and even kaplan. i mean the maths questions in OG are way too easy. i m actually worried abt verbal, especially sc

so cud nebdy tell me, which is the closer to gmat, OG or GPREP tests?

the reason i m asking this is, i got a 710 in my first GPREP test (my gmat is on 13th AUG), which i took tday. with the questions from OG repeating, i dnt think this can be considered a VERY good score. i wud be happy if i get this score on the d-day, but considering tht the questions got repeated, i think i shud score more than the score i wud actually be happy with ......

plz tell me wht you people think

thnx
anya sah
