Hi,

I m a newbie here.. I studied in BITS-Pilani and currently working for Wells Fargo in Hyderabad. All my four years of college, I did many activites and I was into a NGO. I have got many recognitions like Woman Leader award, BITSAA global 30 under 30 award, given to 30 bitsians and Alumni under the age of 30 every 4 years. With all these achievements I have one negative point thts my CGPA which is 7.05/10.

Wells Fargo that I m working for is a great bank, but I m into Tech Side into testing. This is not the profile I expcted, but i m utlising the huge knowledge bank inside the organisation and learning more on internal operations like how the bank works.

I always dreamnt of studying in Top BSchools abroad, but I m not sure how realistic my dreams are, provided my background. I would want to have 3 years of experience and tis been 3 months sicne i joined Wells Fargo. It would be grt if puys can guide me through my MBA :):scooter:

Thanks in advance!

I have scoured the forums and i need some realistic inputs ...plzzz

My case:
1.) 8 + years US experience - civil engineer (pure tech, design and stuff.. limited proj management)

2.) Have completed 1/3 Part time mba program at a one of top 10 Part Time programs in US..(had to stop because i could not raise student loan, and visa status issue.. before you recommend to complete this program.. i am at a situation where cost of completing the remaning courses will be more thanstarting fresh at ISB)

3.) Pretty bad scores.. 550, 620..;( (planning to make one last attempt in dec 2009, post second deadline for ISB)

4.) Have dabbled in entrepreneurship:
a.) Outsourced engineering work to india.. generated billing worth 30,000$ (12 month period) (until my partner pulled a fast one on me....lesson learnt: even if friends for 15yrs.. make sure it is on a piece of paper..legit )

b.) 2nd project : have a website/business plan ready, but realized it is expensive to hire programers in india..so its in a state of suspension now.. ;-)..until i find some angle investors..;-)

c.) 3rd project: did extensive market research..(i am sure if i had continued..i would have found GOD..;-).. and realized market was very complicated and not for small fries...hence aborted.

5)

I am not trying to sell my sob story, just a realistic take ....plz.. if you have the time..

1.) what are my chances...of even making it to past screening. (if i meet the dec 1 deadline)

2.) Should i try for next year?

3.) Will I hurt my chances if i am a re-applicant.

:banghead:

Thanks you all for your patience and time..

cheers and best of luck..

Hi all,

I am new to this forum and have a question. Which of the 2 MBA programs would be considered better between Oxford and HEC Paris. My area of work is finance and I am not looking to switch careers into another sector. I speak very little french. I'm open regarding my post MBA work destination.

Some people suggest that I look into the career stats of both schools to decide but would that advice be given to someone who has to decide between say Wharton and NYU ( or am I incorrect to say that there is actually that big a difference in overall prestige and quality )

Oxford has that aura around it, but some say it is all hype. And HEC has been raked well off late though slightly lesser known. Broadly is the quality of the school, experience, prestige, career opportunities etc vastly different ?

Thank you

I have applied for h1b for fiscal year 2008-2009 and my petition has been approved, but i have not applied for stamping yet, because my employer is not providing all documents which are needed for stamping. My employer has not withdraw my application yet.
Now I got admit in US uni for MS for the term of spring-2010 and applied for visa in mumbai consulate. having interview on 19. So my questions are..
1) Is consulate know I have applied for H1b earlier?
2) should I need to withdraw my h1b petition?
3) If consulate ask that earlier u have applied for H1b and now for F1 what should be my answer? because they know clearrely my intense to go USA.

If I ask my employer to withdraw my petition then I am sure he is going to ask money for that.

what should I have to do ?

Reply would be most appreciated..
