Which Study Material is better for English Usage? - 21-06-2005, 02:29 PM

Hi all

I am thinking of starting preparation for English Usage and I am in a big dilemma over which institute's study material to study(exclusively for EU)...should I go for CL or IMS or TIME or PT...

Thanks in Advance

Pal did u really need a separate thread for this

TIME and IMS have a good set of books with some good length practice exercises.....

CF has few booklets on Correct Grammatical Usage.... I found it very useful the explanations provided to exercises clears a lot of grammar concepts (if u dont have enuf time to go through Wren n Martin)

EU needs a lot of practice and a good repository is the old mocks from various institutes try n get hold of some and u will have enuf for practice......

There is Students Reference Book by Websters ------ topics on grammatical usage list of idioms etc

Wrong place friends!! - 21-06-2005, 06:08 PM

Hi people,

As Govi already mentioned, we really didn't need a new thread on this query. Anyway, I just wanted to point to the mods that this thread must not be in Quant section.

Mods, plz move this thread to Exam Resources. Makes life easier for fellow pagals.

Regards,
Ankur

EU........ muaahhhhhhhhh ...... ask me ...... how i hv slooged it out 2 get a command on it ....... 1st of all lettme tackle RC ..... CL n TIME material are pathetic ........ most of d answers in CL r wrong ....... the passages r factual ...... n the CL material has not been revamped since 1947 ....... TIME ...... least said d better ........ IMS ka material is amazing cuz Mrs. Manju Bhandari has really put in sum effort 2 develop it ....... RC r as close as u will get in actual CAT ....... get hold of GMAT official guide book and get d RC thing photostated ...... they r amazing ...... the passages r as long as u get in cAT ..... there r abt 20 of them .......... most of d q's r inferrential .......... n r of gr88 help ......... but og is for 1000 buks ..........

partajumbles ....... nvr apply brains ........ nvr put more trhan 40 secs or else u will get it wrong ..... nvr read everything ........ look for nouns conjuctions ..... that which etc etc ........ in short look for LOLLIPOPS ............

Hey Zero

Thanx for the info...

ur post really elaborates fully on the RC section ....but is not very clear about verbal usage n other parts...means for fundas n practice on sentence correction, fill in blanks etc. which material shd I go for...

Going by ur expert comments on RC, it seems that you must have slogged it hard in other parts also

Waiting for equally elaborative reply
