Jumbled paragraphs - 10-08-2004, 10:04 AM

Hi ppl,

It seems that after studying almost 10 months for the CAT, I am still not able to solve jumbled paragraphs in quick time. I take well over a minute to solve one. I would request PGites to chip in with suggestions and put forth their strategy in solving these questions.
Thanks!

There is only one strategy to answer these questions..

Just look at the options and eliminate those that are giving wrong starting sentences...

after look at the following sentence..most of the times u can answer these questions in some 30-40 secs max...

u shd be able to answer some 5 such ques in 3min....

actually these questions are a give away in any kinda paper...

just work on them and u ll get it...

happy Jumbling....

for para-jumble one need to identify the keywords.... this is the advice every other institute gives u...
and for that u shud be good in grammar and skimming... start like this and ull gradually pick up speed...
read a lot and of course comprehend it...
u'll surely get there!
Ciao!

look for the connected paras. there are at least two sentences connected to each other. e.g. AC (the sentence A is followed by C). then, check out the choices. Normally, you can eliminate two in this way.
Now, if you still have a doubt, read the sentences in the two (or more) remaining answer choices in order and u will figure out the sentence. this method takes longer but is a good last resort measure (after all else has failed...try this out!)

HI

One good and fast way of doing it is look at the answer options and solve
the common ones first and it usaually gets you the right answer.
