hello....
i classify this english usage into parts
1)parajumbles:: This is one area that could be scoring but the questions in cat are really tough.... ther eis a pretty useful book in the market..i forgot the name.will let u know soemtime in the evening..i found these parajumbles can be worked out by practise....one thing i found in many books is that they are too easy and its never too easy in the actual cat...( i cud be wrong..first time cat taker)..i have a compete set of abt 150 actualy cat question appeared ....tats also available in the market
2)Sentence completions/fillin the blanks
this is high scoring......i use my gre practise material and one verbal book by R.s agarwal..i find it useful
3)dictionary usage:::well the dictionary...lol..but seriously dont worry abt this....u really cant improve on this atleast now...focus on the other things
4)analogies/synonyms/antonyms:::: any gre book and the rs agarwal verbal bookk
5)choose the grammatically correct sentence:::
this comes with practise...and any competitive exam book will sufficce
but dont waste too much time studying on this....the reason is that u really cannot improve all this beyond a certain extennt....try to score 13-15 in this and try to do well in rc.........practise rc......all my friends in the iims tell me...whether or not u clear cat.....highly depends on ur perfomance in Rc. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to starsunil For This Useful Post:

thanks starssunil
i am still waiting for the name of the books
one more thing i do read news papers but have not tried to solve an actual RC .
is the IMS material enough for that
SHOULD ONE READ THE QUESTIONS FIRST AND THEEN READ THE RC OR IT SHOULD IT BE JUST THE OPPOSITE.
PLEASE ANSWER THIS KEEPING IN MIND THE LEVEL OF RC'S IN DIFFRENT PAPERS LIKE FMS CAT etc

hey mate is the ims material really enuf for english ????
i will have a look at it..........
for DI i would highly recommend Abhijith guha great book IMO.....
and regarding RC it really is difficult to say if u have to read the passage or the questions....it works differently for diff ppl
for eg..i just look at the questions and then read the passage searching for the questions....
iam not great in RC but iam improving...
