yaa i agree to you to a greater extent becoz. i think and i have seen the written english will only help you to clear the exams but the proficiency and articulation in spoken english is a lifelong freind of a person.as i study in bahadurgarh, i have seen very intelligent guys bungled at interviews of companies as well as b-schools as the they lack articulation as well as fluency in their language so they can not properly communicate with the other person and have to loose out on many grounds . my recommendation for this which is a self tried and tested fomula 1.keep practising and practisig in front of mirror. 2.initially do not get much concerned about the vocab. and grammitical mistakes they can be sorted out later on but building the confidence is very important. believe in yourself and don't feel shy 3.form a group of friends at a similar level and try speaking and discussing with them on variety of topics this will not only give you confidence but also help you to appear for gds as you also come to know view points of different people
4. try to participate in debates ,gds etc. at your college level this will help you to improve public speaking. always remember that GREAT LEADERS ARE ALSO GOOD SPEAKERS and always believe that "i am the best and nothing is impossible"

Preparation has to be much before, but the way you prepare should be constructive!!!!!! Just try to take help of anyone who are well versed with english language. It may be your friend or lecturer. But make sure that you do choose the right way, cozzzz....... you have what is called "common sense".
