Hey out4blood, the steps given by u can save a lot, but only for the ppl who whine coz of virii attacks. Else u cant do much with windows. Win has gone a long way from Win 98SE - agreed, it seems more robust now - agreed, infact me feel MS changed a lot by working on Win NT and finally Win 2000. That was why i can put MS OSes in gud book but then its smthing else too. I feel gasping for breath when i use Windows. From just 200Mb it has risen to 2GB installation. In many things the 'educated' user can help himself out, just that OS wont really let the user catch some lifesaver fresh air!! It thinks every user as a troublemaker blonde kid shown in its tour video who just whams the PC with his toy hammer.
I dnt fuss abt the virus, Windows is most used so its expected to have attacks, OSX, Linux arent spared too, they getting their share as they are getting more popular. (And that also mean i dont wince abt Windows just coz its popular, me used it, compared it, kicked it )

Why Win still sucks -
04-09-2005, 12:13 AM
Am back and back with a vengeance. My whole 80Gb HDD, all my precious precious data - software and other data built over YEARS! - all lost in land od 0s and 1s, u know how difficult is to collect the topmost pirated data, the data from P2Ps all the hacking stuff and the hacked stuff Guess whom do i cut out? Well XP ofcourse!
Remember that Win98 time when u could fix small probs with the registries and even partition tables? well if u guys ever tried watching wat XP does to the partition tables u will know, it just screws them to get them 'sophisticated' and be more in control than the user itself!
Well it was a series of jinxes, first my motherboard blew. But i'd have taken it, one wud anyday love to be parted from a non USB/P3-500, smthin that rebootes every time u take some Partition Magic action !! After the change i had to finally get my two HDDs on board, thats when the problem comes. The blue screen of death, is that what we called it in Win 98? Well believe me, WinXP's blue screen is deadlier. I just couldnt boot, many tries, different methods but then WinXP isnt supposed to be a techie's pal, is it. Finally resorted to god ol DOS bootup, now now... youy cud load the classic 98 straight on the previous version and it'd rebuild the lost/corrupted files and keep all the data including ur profile data intact, smthing for which i cud boast to safeguard data 99% times, sayonara to that. Now i had to rely on Win XP setup for it, the faux pas, i choose the setup to delete the prev version of XP, dint want any old drivers making my day hell, along comes the dreaded Blue Screen of death. I tried rebooting from CD and guess wat do u see next? me sitting in a wet trouser, 'asta la vista - baby' to my data, there was no partition, no data. Whole 80GB unformatted !!!!!!! had there been a deleted data, i'd have recovered it, formatted data in a partition disk, i'd recovered it, but all data and the partition tables lost !!! Guys cant tell u how rare was the data i had wit me, collecter's items..
So finally my point is .. Windows SUCKS and sucks big time d00d !its oky to be user frindly man but dnt kill the ease for ppl who can save their datas after u 'unfortunately' lose their data

LOL....yaar why don't you write the operating system's full name . Everytime I see XP, I get a feeling that the comment is about me . I had a near-crash xprience with my copy of Windows XP, I don't know what caused it but I remember the error code by heart now - it was #80070002, my system refused to boot saying "Unable to check the license". For a second, I thought that MS had used some secret vulnerability to catch hold of pirated copies - I was about to format my computer but just then I realised that I had Windows 98 too installed on my dabba (for rare instances like this) - Contingency planning u see . I noted down the error code and found out some possible solutions using Google bhagwaan .
Ultimately I was able to repair the damn thing by deleting a particular registry key, but tell me how many "Normal" human beings would have a dual boot computer and how many people would have been able to solve a problem like this without spending a fortune?
That's why Wndows Sucks.
P.S XP Stands for Xtra Pagal, No connection with MyCrowSoft

Yup, that's essential. Personally I'm using Win. 98, it's a more stable platform, XP's unreliable, any glitch & it crashes, also 98 is less vunerable to viruses & Trojan Horses, since fewer folks use 98, so hackers prefer to crash XP for more inpact.
It's best to have a backup on CDs & DVDs, personally I've about 50 GB of ebooks all stashed away on Cds.
