Mission Statement - 07-03-2005, 07:07 PM

Hi Guys,

I have come acroos this question quite often while applying for a job...
CAn anyone come up with the difference between Mission Statement and Vision Statement.

From what I understand, Mission statement is kind of a guiding star whereas Vision statement is more of quantified stuff like.....be a manager 3 yrs down the line/lead a team of my own etc....

Can anyne tell me where can I find mission statement ..i mean any sites from where i can have few tips coz i have Vision but not a mission statement.. sounds silly but true guyz..

I am applying for a Corporate finance job being a CA but i donno what to put for this Intriguing question.

Regards

I would recommend u to read "The seven habits of Highly effective people" by Stephen Covey. It has an excellent section on creating a personalized mission statement.

Also u can read the "First things first" by the same author. Anyways don't know of any book particularly for creating mission statements. Hope it helps.....

Hey,

Thanx Smarty.. I have read tht book although its a long time now. Infact , i have even read 8th habit by Stephen Covey. It doesnt help u formalise any professional mission statement dear.

I was looking not for a book but if someone has anytime thought abt it or has any statements/views 2 share as to wht can be the content for it.

However, I will def. again browse thru the book 2 find any help it can provide.

Thanx again
