Cricket is a popular game in our country for various reasons, but is it really fair to pay the players so disproportionate to their performance?
Whether they win by a single run or loose by an innings they still get their pay packet, if they break a rule and are penalised they employ the most expensive lawyer to help them out.
In a country torn by disparity and poverty is it ethical to pay players lakhs for failing us?On one hand athletes commit suicide for lack of funds and cricketers are seen on fashion shows and award ceremonies handing over trophies!!
It's just crazy that our country still supports the game and any self-respecting Indian should stop watching the game unless a balance is drawn between the performance and pay of players.
For cricket lovers... ppl no offense meant, but i just outting across my thoughts and the facts

hmmmm, poverty and disparity are the hallmark of india as much as yoga, politics and bhangra are..
one citizen is gifting her daughter a 5 crore mercedes maybach while one of us is digging rats from his field to cook and eat up.
the point however is tell me a place where there is no disparity..
do ya think that all men are born equal in united states or say germany or uk.the problem in india is more pronounced and visible because of such a huge population...
and whos said our cricketers have failed us...c'mon its just a game,u cant win all the times(if u'r not australia as some one out of u is gonna point out),its not remotely bad as what u people are making it out...what im tryin to say is that we can't say that our players dont want to win...they try their best..and thats what should matter..
our players have made a name for themselves in world.sachin,rahul,saurav.sehwag.kumble are the top of the tops...
they have shown the world that they've got the guts and they are getting paid for it...whats the big deal...
can u name name some other sportsperson who've made a name for themselves..let me count-
1.Vishwanathan Anand-a force to reckon with in int. chess.I believe he is getting his fair share of media limelight, sponsorship and dough.does anyone believe hes not been paid to his potential?
2.Narain kartekeyan-hes in formula one.sponsors(atlast),media, bucks what not..does anyone believe hes not been paid to his potential.
3.Major rathore:the silver lining..do u know that it took 1 crore for his training and was paid by govt. and sponsors..can he blame that hes not been treated at par with cricketers?
4.anju bobby george-well,she is getting what she deserves..awards,citations,cash prizes, media etc etc
5.leander paes, mahesh bhupathy, sania mirza-they too can't complain of disparity and no big bucks for them in tennis.
there are others which i may have missed out ,
what i wanted to say is that performers are being rewarded and recognized, there are no 2 ways bout that...
do u want that we should give our hockey and football team the same amount of dough we give to cricketers..i really don't think so,let them get to the finals of world cup, then see how the big bucks roll in front of them...
indian athletics, well, sounds like an oxymoron to me..where national records are equivalent to what university level records are in china,us and australia..
im not a cricket fanatic, but i love the fact that sachin tendulkar is talked of as arguably the best bat in the world throughout the cricketing world....can anyone in india match this recognition in his field of sports???
